mm di, CRUISER BILL FACE SENATE (By Associated Press) WASHINGTON, May 27. Its heavy work over and this work sets almost a record of accomplishments for any session since the war Congress is in a position to quit this week. Only Boulder canyon dam and the cruiser construction bill remain of the long list of tasks to which the seventieth Congress set itself last December. Both of these measures, already passed by the House, face filibusters in the Senate which votes tomorrow on the House resolution fixing Tuesday at 5 p. m.

as the adjournment hour. Seek to Delay Adjournment While an attempt will be made by proponents of those two bills to delay the end of the session until Saturday or a week from Tuesday, little hope was held out tonight that either could be brought to a final vote regardless of whatever time might be determined upon for the close of the term, because of the filibusters hanging over each. Final enactment, into law of four major legislative proposals still awaits the necessary approval of President Coolldge. On his desk are the Muscle Shoals, tax reduction, postal rates revision and second deficiency appropriation measures, all of these were sent to the White House during the busy rush of the last two days. Three of Four Big Bills Pats Three of the other four big problems of the session have been placed upon the statute books flood control, development of the merchant marine and the alien property settlement act.

The fourth, farm relief, has gone through the legislative mill and ended in the wastebasket, the Senate sustaining the veto of President Coolidge on the McNary-Haugen measure. In addition all of the annual sup-; ply bills to meet the expenditures of the Government during the coming fiscal year have been completed, leaders of both the House and ate taking particular pains to get 5 them out of the way well in ad-; vance of the usual end of the ses-" sioix legislative jam. House Ready to Quit Any Time The House in disposing of the tax bill yesterday cleared its slate of the last big measure on its calendar and will stand by this week ready to go home at any time that the Senate may make up Its mind to do so. The House will meet tomorrow at 11 a. and unless Immediate ar-joumment is taken out of respect to Eepresentaive Thomas S.

Butler of Pennsylvania, chairman of its naval committee, who died yester day, leaders plan to hold it in session for nearly 12 hours to dispose the calendar. Action on these meas ures, however, probably will mean little with slim prospects that the Senate will have an opportunity to consider any before adjournment. During the closing hours of the Senate Boulder dam seems destined to hold its place as the unfinished business. By a vote of 44 to 22, the Senate refused to sidetrack it late yesterday for consideration of the administration's $274,000,000 naval construction bill. Determined to onng ut aouiaer measure to a vote, Senator Johnson, Republican, California, is marshaling his forces for day and night sessions, and the Senate appears ready to end again in a filibuster.

Still before Congress are seven vetos of minor bills by President Coolldge. Three of the 13 measures he has returned to Congress with his disapproval have been enacted STRAND MAY 28 LAST TIMES TODAY Norma Shearer in 'The Latest From Paris' Comedy "HATS OFF Review Children 10c Adultt 20c TEMPLE MAY 28-29 GENE STRATTON PORTER'S GREAT STORY "FRECKLES" Comedy Sportllght News Children 10c Adultt 25c According to radio Goniometriova data here, it is assumed the Italia a probable position at that hour was in the neighborhood of the northern coast of Spitzbergen. Foster waa chosen today by the Workers (communist) party for the second successive time as Its candidate for the presidency. Benjamin Gitlow was selected as Foster's running mate. An enthusiastic demonstration followed presentation of the names of Foster and Gitlow by the nominating committee. For 20 minutes the delegates to the national con vention marched through the aisles shouting and singing, and showering bits of newspapers about the hall. The platform adopted by the party calls for the overthrow of the capitalistic class and initiation of a system of social legislation; recall of American troops from Central America, China, and all American colonies and dependencies; unem ployment insurance, a five-day, 40- hour week, and repeal of the eight eenth amendment and the Volstead act.

into law by the Senate and House with the necessary two-thirds ma jorities. Attempts to override the President on three other vetoes have failed, the Senate sustaining him twice and the House once. There seems but little likelihood that the other seven will be voted upon. Permanently removed without surgical operation or detainment from worK or pleetura. The relief ouertnteed.
