5 OT PATRICIA O'HAI RE D.E The shows outside fOUE OF BROADWAY'S best acting these days isn't being done inside theaters. It's outside on the sidewalks. Those dealers and their armies of shills in the three-card monte scams are real living street theater. So are the chess players and the musicians and the celebrity hounds who seem to wear the same coats and hats winter and summer. And certainly this group should include that lady-who keeps shaking her can in your face asking you to contribute to some incomprehensible charity that only she knows about for sure (she's been doing this for at least 20 years maybe more and she is indefatigable; but her clothes get a little smarter each year, so the money she collects must go to better shops these days).

Now add to that cast a whole influx of novelty performers who can be seen literally on every corner magicians (in front of "Barnum," among other shows), Jugglers, stand-up comedians, ventriloquists, fiddlers, soft-shoe artists. And recently the newest, found in front of the Royale, where "A Day In Hollywood, A Night in the Ukraine" is holding forth: an incredibly gifted budding Houdini who wraps himself in a straight-jacket, then has himself tied up in yards of tough rope then manages to free himself in less than a minute! He makes the bills and coins he's given disappear fairly quick, too. Right into his pocket. Maybe he's already taken lessons from the can lady. THE BRITISH ARE COMING, THE BRITISH ARE COMING: For one, there's Richard Harris, who must be doing something right these days.

As Bo Derek's father, he's the best thing about the new Tarzan movie. And, of course, he took over the lead in "Camelot" when Richard Burton fell ill.
