For more information contact the Office of Continuing Education, 434-6711 death ruled suicide CHICAGO (AP) A jury on Monday returned a verdict of suicide in the death of Bobbie Arnstein, executive assistant to Playboy magazine publisher Hugh Hefner.

Miss Arnstein, 34. was found dead Jan. 13 in a room at a North Side hotel. She was convicted last year in federal court on charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and was sentenced to a conditional term of 15 years in prison. The jury ruled that her death was induced by an overdose of sleeping pills and a tranquilizer.

A chief toxiocologist for the coroner's office said, there was a very large amount (of pills) in the stomach anyone of these drugs in that amount is sufficient to cause death." A homicide investigator who appeared before the jury said a psychiatrist told investigators that he had examined Miss Arnstein in the fall and stated he believed at that time she would attempt suicide if she was sentenced to prison. Judge Bernard M. Decker of U.S. District Court, who imposed the prison sentence on Miss Arnstein, had said her term would be subject to review and possible reduction after 90 days of psychiatric tests and observation.
