He worked tirelessly for his family and sacrificed so that we would have the best life possible.

He always had a positive outlook in life and was our person to go to when we needed help or advice. Sadly he was predeceased by his younger son Richard Joey, and left behind his wife Jaroslava, daughter Marcella and son Robert, grandchildren Linda, Jesse, Cornelius, Gerardus, and greatgrandchildren Ray Rogers, Jake, Noah, and truly wonderful daughter-in-laws Patricia and XiaoMeng (Maggie). Your loving wife, Sylvia ADAM BERNSTEIN Joe Marquette, a wire service photographer who drew notice for his vivid images of athletes and political leaders and was part of The Associated Press team that won a Pulitzer Prize for coverage of U.S. President Bill Clinton's impeachment hearings, died Nov. 5 at his home in Tulsa, Okla.

He was 79. The cause was respiratory failure, said his companion, Kim Hewitt. In a career spanning five decades, Marquette worked predominantly with United Press International and the Associated Press and chronicled four US. presidencies, from Ronald Reagan to George W. Bush.

Marquette also photographed Capitol Hill hearings on matters ranging from the Iran-Contra affair of the 1980s to the Abu Ghraib prison-abuse scandal after the invasion of Iraq in 2003. He and a cadre of AP photographers shared the Pulitzer in 1999 for feature photography of impeachment hearings stemming from Clinton's affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky. Marquette's winning photo depicted a confrontation between Clinton lawyer David Kendall and independent counsel Kenneth Starr in a House Judiciary Committee hearing room overflowing with spectators and other photographers avivid evocation of the news frenzy. Off the political beat, Marquette, then with UPI, won a World Press Photo contest for his image of Britain's Sebastian Coe winning the gold medal at the 1980 Moscow Olympics in the race. Marquette also captured a decisive moment of the 1983 Super Bowl when Washington Redskins fullback John Riggins broke free from Don McNeal of the Miami Dolphins to Giovanni Nicola Caporicci 1941-2013 Dear Dad and Nonno, We miss you and love you very much.

WIFE OR HUSBAND I have lost my soul's companion, A life linked with my own; And day by day I miss her more, As I walk through life alone.

A silent thought, a secret tear, Keeps his memory ever dear, Time takes away the edge of grief, But memory turns back every leaf. CHILDREN He has gone to be an angel, Secure in our Father's care, And his dear little feet now patter along The beautiful streets up there. Joseph Chartrand Marquette was born Jan. 6, 1937 in Indianapolis and grew up in Detroit. He developed an interest in photography as a child after his parents bought him a Kodak Brownie camera.

He entered journalism as a courier at the Detroit News, and he formed friendships with photographers who helped smooth his path to jobs with UPI, first in Minneapolis and later in Denver. He spent several decades with UPI but also had stints in the mid-1980s with Reuters (where he helped establish its US. wire-photo service) and the Philadelphia Inquirer. He worked for the Associated Press from 1991 to 2003, followed by two years with the European Pressphoto Agency. He freelanced until moving to Oklahoma in 2009.

His honours included a first-place award for presidential coverage from the White House News Photographers Association in 1992. His marriages to Eva DeMaggio and Carol Giacomo ended in divorce. Survivors include his companion of nine years, Kim Hewitt of Tulsa; a son from his first marriage, Anthony Marquette of Centennial, a son from his second marriage, Christopher Marquette of Cos Cob, a brother; and a grandson. "Warren, Paul Williams and I would sit down and brainstorm," Lipsey told the Omaha Reader in 2010. "Then this thing came along it actually came along on a tip from Warren. It made for a great story." In March 1972, Lipsey's Sun Newspapers challenged the powerful local institution by publishing an eight-page section with the provocative headline: Boys Town, America's Wealthiest City? The special report called Boys Town a "money machine," with a net worth of $209 million. In 1971, Boys Town had received $18 million in contributions and had a total income of more than $25 million or four times more than its annual expenses. The Sun Newspapers' story won the Pulitzer Prize for local specialized investigative reporting, the first time a weekly paper had won a Pulitzer for investigative journalism.

It prompted immediate reforms: The longtime director resigned, an accounting firm examined the books, and Boys Town went on an ambitious expansion program that included new buildings and medical and humanitarian efforts across the country. Among journalists, the Sun papers' investigation became renowned as one of the first in-depth examinations of how charities spend their money Washington Post Publisher guided small weekly to Pulitzer The family of the late Moe Mann would like to acknowledge with deep gratitude our heartfelt appreciation for your kind expressions of sympathy, charitable donations, Shiva meals and visits that were made in honour of Moe's memory.
