PAGE 2 SANDUSKY REGISTER State Approves Headstart Grant A $29,880 federal grant to finance a pre-school project was approved yesterday by Gov. James A. Rhodes for Ebenezer Day Nursery. THE SUM represents the full amount that the Ebenezer group requested, for its Project to prepare for school children who have had limited public contact and language experience. The grant is part of the President's poverty program and comes from the U.S; fice of Economic Opportunity.

THE EBENEZER project will provide pre-school training for about 70 children from age three to kindergarten age. One full-time teacher, two part-time instructors and four assistants will conduct the program. The grant was a "stftglt purpose" grant, awarded directly to the sponsoring agency without requiring prior approval of a comrriitnlty action group. Rhodes noted, however, that the community action commission of Erie County recommended approval of the grant. Total cost of the six-month project is $33 ,200.

The nursery's share of $3,320 will be petered by "in Wnd" illew- ances. THE GRANT stipulated that a policy advisory committee, with at least half of its members comprised of the parents of children involved, be formed. This is the second Head- start program Instituted by the Ebenezer school. Last summer it served 63 children. THREE PERSONS INJURED Four Accidents In City Four accidents were investigated by police officials yesterday.

Woman Cited For Violation Two Milan Road residents were involved in a two-car collision last night just south of Sandusky. The Bay Bridge Post of the state highway patrol said 1 Ronald Lippert, 18, 6003 Milan was northbound on Rt. 250 a mile south of Sandusky at 50 p.m. Helen Pearl Murphy, 64, 4316 Milan Road, was southbound on Rt. 250 and was making a left 'turn into a private driveway, the patrol said.
