CCLLE32 FOOTBALL (Brown arkso Sefs rush mark Air Force Academy, Colo. (UPI) Eddie Lee Ivery set an NCAA single-game rushing record of 356 yards and scored three touchdowns yesterday to lead Georgia Tech to its seventh straight victory, 42-21, over Air Force. Ivery's record, which came on 26 carries, surpassed the old mark of 350 yards set by Eric Allen of Michigan State against Purdue in 1971. The 200-pound senior scored on runs of 73, 80 and 57 yards. By DANA MOZLEY Providence A young Dartmouth team that was convinced by its coach's impassioned urging early in the season that "you can -control your own destiny," yesterday practically locked up the Big Green's first Ivy League championship in five years.

Practically, because it could still share the title by losing at Princeton next week while the favored team it just beat, veteran Brown, is winning at Columbia. "There's no way we're going to win it outright now," promised the Green's exploives soph fullback-tailback, Jeff Dufresne. That young man from White Bear Lake, scored three times in Dartmouth's 31-21 victory over the Bruins. Each went into this next-to-the last game with a leading 4-1 record. Dufresne's third 100-yard game of the season 31 carries and 127 yards took care of the rushing department.

The passing was even more exceptional, as both pitcher and chief catcher were establishing school records. Eugene (Buddy) Teevens, a senior, completed 16 of 22 passes for 169 yards and one touchdown. Dave Shula, a sophomore, caught eight of them for 92 yards and the second Dartmouth season mark. Teevens, who plays a fine brand of hockey after each football season is over, has now had 101 completions this year breaking Mike Brait's record set two years ago. Young Shula, son of the Dolphins' Don and so sure-handed they ask him to field every punt, didn't miss a single pass he got his hands on a couple with diving catches.

He now has caught 41 this year, one more than the school mark established a year ago by another split end, Harry Wilson. It wasn't until the final period that Dartmouth, a one-TD underdog, broke away to win. First it went to 28-21 when, following a hasty 19-yard punt by Larry Carbone, who had fumbled the good snap, Dufresne culminated a 47-yard drive with an eight-yard slice off right tackle. Not long afterward, the Green's inn Q-ifi'r-ri iimu'lnrri i iwiiiwiiiirwiiiwiiiiiiiiMiiiMiiiiiM'iiiiniliiiiwiiigliMig UPI photo ND's Bob Golic throws Tennessee QB Jimmy Streater for loss. soccer-style placekicker, Chris Sawch, booted a low, line-drive of 44 yards that just barely cleared the crossbar.

He stood as if stunned, for it was his career best. 'Actually. I couldn't see it," he said afterward. "Someone was blocking my vision." Harvard sacks Penn Philadelphia (AP) Tim Palmer sacked Tom Roland to smoth a Penn scoring threat in the final 21 seconds yesterday as Harvard took a 17-13 Ivy League victory. Penn had driven to a first down at Harvard's four when Palmer, a 6-foot-5, 205-pound sophomore, snuffed Roland for a big loss as time ran out on Penn, which had no timeouts left.

Yale fames Prncefon, 24-7 New Haven (UPI) Quarterback Pat O'Brien passed for 235 yards, including a deflected 60-yard scoring pass to end Bob Krystyniak, to lead Yale to a 23-7 Ivy League victory over Princeton yesterday. O'Brien's third period pass to Krystyniak, which bounced off the hands of end John Spagnola at the Princeton 39, clinched Yale's 12th straight victory over Princeton and kept the defending champion Elis in the Ivy race behind Dartmouth and Brown. Yale is 3-1-2 in the League and 4-2-2 overall. Princeton, which last beat Yale in 1966, to 2-4-2 overall and 1-3-2 in Ivy play. Cornell's Joe Holland runs all over Columbia, 35-14 By JOE O'DAY Joe Holland, Cornell's hard-running tailback, looked like All-Pro Franco Harris to Columbia.

Listed as six feet and 204 pounds, the son of another Cornell great, former All-American Brud Holland, the 21-year-old graduate student looked 10 feet tall and 300 pounds as he tallied three TDs in the Big Red's 35-14 victory over the Lions yesterday at Baker Field before a Veteran's Day throng of 7,105 Holland tunneled the Light Blues with brilliant all-round running. He hit them inside and out, rushing for 189 yards via 36 carries. Holland got fine support, especially from sophomore quarterback Mike Ryan, who came in to trigger the Big Red second half surge after the Lions roared to a 14-0 lead in the early moments of the second quarter. The Lions overcame their usual seizure of fumbleitis as quarterback Larry Bondi and flanker Artie Pulsinelli combined on a 75-yard pass play midway through the first period and tailback Gerry Fitzpatrick belted over for a TD midway through the second. Still, the Big Red, which is looking for its first winning season since 1972, never los their poise.
