MAYHEW, Nancy Muriel (nee Jay) March 12, 1929 September 7, 2018 Slipped away quietly while at the Pontiac Reception Centre, Shawville, Quebec to join her husband Arthur Mayhew (October 2010), her parents Charles Jay and Margaret Taylor Edey, her sisters Emily Jay Gogo, Annie Jay Miner, Helen (Nellie) Jay Cochrane and her friend and cousin Mary Jay. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Edith (Ross Campbell), Linden George Mayhew (Kathryn Chambers) and Roger Mayhew (Jennifer Davies) and her cousin Elwyn Jay.

Back when she was able, she took great delight in spending time with and cooking for her grandchildren Trevor Campbell (Kelly Gustafson), Heather Campbell (James Sally), Darren Mayhew (Amanda O'Brien), Kimberley Mayhew (Adam Lehman), Alex and Laura Mayhew along with 8 great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews and her in-laws the Mayhew clan. She loved to cook and bake, meaning we were greeted with cake, cookies, pies or homemade buns after school and as adults. She was a member of the St. Andrew's-Knox UCW and in later years the Shawville UCW, Pontiac Community Hospital Auxiliary, WymanBristol Women's Institute. Each family member received one of her home made quilts and every Christmas a pair of her knit socks.

Many a long walks Nancy and Lorna Sparling took so they could enjoy their ice cream cones. Nancy endured many challenges during her life but she was made of "good pioneer Resting at the Hayes Funeral Home, 134 Centre Street, Shawville, Quebec on Monday, September 10, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Funeral Service will be conducted in the Shawville United Church Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. Interment Maple Grove Cemetery.

He was a child psychologist for more than 40 years and a former Director of the Roberts Smart Centre.

He practiced taught Taekwondo for many years, reaching his 4th Dan Black belt. Xavier is survived by his loving wife Carol, four children Jessica (Matt) Jalynn, Alisha (Stew) and Xavier (Amanda), eight grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters. 1935-2018 Passed away at Montfort Hospital, surrounded by family. Our heartfelt gratitude to the 3C palliative team who attended to him with great care in his final hours. Norman will be dearly missed. A devoted husband and father, he leaves behind his beloved wife Paule Sherman (nee Langlois), sons Norman P. Sherman (Suzanne Alain) and Louis Sherman (Branka Vulesevic), daughters Elisabeth Sherman (Michael Brenner), Anne Sherman (Kyle Durocher), and Marie Sherman.

Jane attended Nursing College in Guelph and went on to have a long enjoyable career in nursing from operating rooms to maternity to palliative care, yet she valued her family and friends most of all. She will be remembered for her remarkable spirit, her unfaltering optimism and extraordinary joy of living. Jane was the best of company-articulate, witty, wise, generous and so very kind. Her pleasures included literature, playing piano, singing, baking pies, shopping, playing cards, coffee with friends and most of all helping other people. She lived every day as we all wish we could-fully, happily and thankfully.

Jane will be hugely missed by her family, Richard (Hengameh Arshibeklash), Daniel, Kristi (Jeff Fulford), Jennifer and late infant son Christopher. She was "Grandma Jane" to Simon, Kaelan, Megan, Dante and Connor. She will also be dearly missed by her brother Bill (Ethyle) Gray of Oakville, late sister Linda Masson of Edmonton and brother Tim (Sandra) Gray of Guelph as well as many nieces and nephews. The family sincerely thanks Dr. Schriver and the nursing staff at the Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital for their excellent care.

Arrangements by the Boyce Funeral Home 138 Daniel Street North, Arnprior. Visitations will be held Wednesday, September 12, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Memorial Service Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the Boyce Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Diamondview Cemetery, Kinburn.

(Clare) P. Eng. Passed away (peacefully, as a result of respiratory and heart failure) on September 5, 2018, in his 106th year.

Predeceased by his wife Jean (nee Stoyand) of 59 years, and by his only brother Milton, of Leamington, Ontario. Devoted and proud father of Dr. Bruce Campbell (Manuella), Clare joined the RCNVR early in WWII, serving in Canada, and overseas with the Royal Navy where he attained the rank of Lieut-Cmdr. Post war his professional career included planning and technical design of electric utility systems in BC and Ontario (with 20 years service at Ottawa Hydro). Friends and family are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair McGarry 150 Woodroffe Ave.

COOKE, Atsuko Atsuko Cooke (nee Yamanaka) died suddenly Saturday, Septembers, 2018 of a brain haemorrhage. Atsuko was born in Wakayama, Japan, and attended primary and high school there and in Osaka. She received a B.A. in English literature from University of Osaka, then a B.L.S. from University of Toronto and an M.L.S.

from McGill University. She followed a career in public service as a librarian and information officer, first with McGill University, then with the federal government with Canadian International Development Agency, Health and Welfare Canada, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the International Development Research Centre. Always passionate about art, following retirement she studied at Ottawa School of Art and exhibited in many venues. She was a member of the North Gower Artists' Society and the Go-Figure Group at Burritts Rapids. Some of her figure work will be featured in the Merrickville Art Guild Studio Tour, 22-23 September in Burritts Rapids.

A resident of North Gower for more than forty years, Atsuko leaves behind her husband Owen and sister Makiko in Wakayama as well as nephews and nieces and their families in Japan. Friends may attend a visitation at the Kars Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes 1610 Roger Stevens Dr. Kars, ON on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Ottawa School of Art, 35 George Ottawa, K1 N8W5. 1 DUNNIGAN, Sister Helen Sister Helen Dunnigan (Sister Teresa Anne), a Grey Sister of the Immaculate Conception, Pembroke, Ontario, died in Pembroke, ON, on the September 8, 2018, in the 77th year of her Religious Life. Left to mourn her loss are the members of her Religious Community, nephew, Robert Tremblay, grandniece, Amber Westfall, grandnephew Derek Johnson (Mariena), other relatives and many friends. Predeceased by her parents, William J. and Teresa (Garvey), brother William, and sister, Margaret Tremblay. Sister Helen was born in Ottawa on August 13, 1922.

She entered the Community on September 7, 1942, pronouncing final vows on July 24, 1947. A teacher by profession, she ministered at Immaculata High School, Ottawa in Special Commercial for twenty years. In 1964, she was elected to the General Council of the Community, serving as Treasurer for the next seventeen years. Other assignments included Administration of the Youville Residence for the elderly, Vancouver, B.C. and as Founding Director and later one of the Spiritual Directors of the Marguerite Centre, Pembroke.

Visitation at Caritas Residence, 215 Deacon Pembroke: Tuesday, September 11, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. Funeral Liturgy in the chapel at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Columba Cemetery. Arrangements in the care of Murphy Funeral Home.

735-5 7n GORDON, Ken Ken passed away on September 7, 2018 at the age of 76, on a street in Manotick, the town he grew up in and loved. Dad to Karen, Kevin (Michelle) and Kristopher (Monica). Grandpa to Danny, Jenna, Ben, Natalie, Anabelle and Amy. Greatly missed by his girlfriend and best friend, Kathie McNeil, and her kids, Carley and Jason, his sister Barbara, the Bracken family, and friends from all over. Kenny will be remembered for his quick wit, his strong opinions and his ability to talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime.

In his memory, buy someone a beer, talk to someone you don't know and tell a joke. The celebration of his life very well lived will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Stanley's Olde Maple Lane Farm, 2452 Yorks Corners Road, Edwards. Visitation 1-3 p.m., celebration 3 p.m., reception to follow. As he would have wanted it, no suits or ties allowed. Donations to the Ottawa Mission in Ken's memory are most welcomed.

Ann (Armstrong) Peacefully on Friday, September 7, 2018, Ann died in Ottawa. She was predeceased by her parents Winnifred Lucy (Brookes) and Ernest Lindsay Armstrong, and by her husband Claude Hannan.

Born in Montreal, May 30, 1929, Ann attended The Study and graduated with a BA from McGill University. Ann and Claude married in 1951, and from 1962 to 1968, she and the children joined him on postings to London and Chicago. Her passion for life included travel, hiking, cycling, aquafit, skating, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and food (in recent years her oysters, pinot grigio and creme brulee in particular). She was an active member of the Canadian Federation of University Women, the community at St Matthew's Church, the Friends of English Theatre, the Ottawa Women's Club, the Ottawa Newcomers Alumni Club and countless book clubs. An outgoing person, she will be missed by her many friends, including the community at the Colonel By Retirement Residence, and by her daughter Claudia (Norsworthy), grandchildren Lindsay, Tyler and Kelly, great-granddaughter Caley, son Philip, her brother Christopher, nieces and nephews.

She was a remarkable woman in many ways and will be greatly missed by all the lives she touched. She is survived by her loving daughters Marie Kopacova and Radka (Etienne) Lalonde.

She is predeceased by her husband Lubor who passed away in 201 0 in Ottawa. She leaves behind a great legacy that includes 6 grandchildren (Marie, Magdalena, Michaela, Elizabeth, Alexandre Dominique) and 10 great grandchildren. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Ottawa General and Civic Hospital Campuses, the QCH Cancer Centre, Carefor and the Champlain LHIN for their care and support over the past 8.5 years and to all those who befriended and cared for her. Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral mass celebrating Radmila's long and full life on Saturday, September 15 at 5:00 pm at the St. Leopold Mandic Croatian Church, 170 Hinchey Ottawa.

Loyal friend to many. John grew up in Ottawa and had a successful career that spanned over 35 years with The Bank of Nova Scotia. He loved to be surrounded by nature whether it was camping trips, canoe trips, or hikes. He enjoyed his time on the golf course with all of his golfing buddies, even if one of his clubs ended up in a tree! Family will receive condolences at the Bethany United Church, 3150 Ramsayville Road, Ottawa on Friday, September 14th, 2018 at 10:00 am. Memorial Service at 11:00 am followed by interment at the Ramsayville Cemetery.

Dear daughter of the late Diane Joly and the late Rene Racette. She will be sadly missed by her sister Denise Goulet (late Raymond) and her brother Jacques (Bohdonna), and her sister-in-law Pierrette Racette, as well as by several nephews, nieces and friends. Predeceased by her sisters Claire Cote (late Petrus) and Rita Richard (late Raymond), as well as by her brothers Maurice (Jacqueline) and Jean-Paul (Pierrette).
