10 A Roosevelt tram to close for 2 weeks in August The Roosevelt Island Tramway will close for at least two weeks beginning Aug. 10 to replace two cables, officials said yesterday. The shutdown is to change the two main haul cables on the aerial cable car, said Joseph Pennisi, deputy commissioner of the state Division of Housing and Community Renewal, which oversees the island.
