RanchHouse Barbecue Is Destroyed By Fire WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13, STAR-COURIER-PAGE 7 EARLY MORNING BLAZE TUESDAY, MARCH 5, COMPLETELY DESTROYED THE RANCH HOUSE BARBECUE AT 1416 AVENUE J. IN PLANO. WRONG INFORMATION GIVEN THE FIREMEN AS TO THE LOCATION OF THE FIRE DELAYED THEIR ARRIVAL AND GAVE THE BLAZE MORE HEADWAY. The Ranch House Barbecue, 1416 Avenue was completely destroyed by an early morning fire Tuesday of last week, March 5. The fire had gained great headway when the Firemen arrived, but the blaze was under control in 20 minutes.

The fire call came in at the Central Fire Station at 7:21 a. m. Tuesday when someone reported a fire at the Pit Grill in the 1300 block on Central Expressway. They investigated and found no evidence of a fire. The dispatcher was advised and the firemen prepared to return to the station.

On their return, they were advised the fire was now reported to be at the Ranch House at 1416 Avenue J. Smoke was billowing from the building when they arrived and the building was completely enveloped by the flames. According to Fireman John West, "the wrong information given the dispatcher, said to have been given by a customer at the Ranch House, delayed the firemen's arrival at the scene of the blaze. Had the ment been given the correct location at first, the damage to the property would have been considerably less. The fire was under control in 20 minutes." Fireman James Shanks received burns on the hands and th? bar vs on his right hand being second degree burns.

NOW A NEW WAY TO HELP YOUR COUNTRY AS YOU HELP YOURSELF U.S. Savings Bonds New Freedom Shares Plano Is Drenched By Downpour Old Man Winter held Plano firmly in its grasp early this week as low hanging clouds intermittently brought rain and snow.

The rain started falling Sunday night, increasing in intensity early Monday, continuing all day Monday and into the night, mixed with a sizeable amount of snow Monday afternoon and night that melted as soon as it fell. Heavy winds Monday afternoon made the going treacherous, blowing limbs off trees and otherwise making riding or walking rather hazardous because of its intensity. Rainfall in Plano until late Monday was estimated at from 1 to 2 inches and more in some places. The heavy downpours caused creeks to rise, and some late Monday were running from a third to a half bank full. Because of continued precipitation, most of the rainfall was run-off water.

Some fields surrounding Plano resembled lakes of water, so heavy was the downpour. The Weather Man, on Monday, forecast gradually clearing weather conditions for Tuesday and Wednesday. FREE DELIVERY 10 A.M. AND 4 P.M. WEEK-DAYS.
