PAGE SIX Westminster CHURCH AWARDS GIYEN AT DINNER Middle Atlantic Honors St. Mark's, Hampstead, Chosen In State WESTMINSTER A Tompkins Countv. N. Y. church of 221 members last night received the "Middle Atlantic Area Town and Country Church of the Year Award" for 1956.

The McLean Community Church, McLean, N. Y. Dr. Arthur Moody, minister, received this citation and a cash award of $300 at the Awards Presentation Dinner of the Town and Countv Church Development Program for the Middle Atlantic Area. The dinner was held at the Meadow Branch Church of the Brethren, Taney town Road.

At the same time the St. Clairs ville Lutheran Parish of Bedford Countv, of which Dr. F. W. Brandt is pastor, received a Middle Atlantic citation for "Commendable Progress" with a cash award of $200.

St John's Methodist Church, Spencer, Va the Rev. Otis W. Lvnch, minister, received the Middle Atlantic citation for "Progress" and a cash award of $100. Each of these churches has already received the "Town and Country Church of the Year Award" in its own state. This state citation had brought in each case a cash award of $300.

These churches were chosen from among 204 churches In the mid Atlantic Area which were enrolled in the second year of the Church Develop Hampstead, received the Maryland "Town and Country Church of the Year" citation. This church, of which the Rev. Russell E. Fink is the pastor, was chosen from the 48 Maryland churches enrolled in the Church Development Program to receive the citation and cash award of $300. Other Maryland churches received citations and awards last night for "Commendable Progress" and cash awards of $100 and for "Progress" and cash awards of $50.

The dinner, which was attended bv 185 persons from the Middle At lantic area, was the second annual dinner held by the Town and Country Church Development Procram This is sponsored for all churches in place of less than 10,000 in tne states of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. It has been set up by the state councils of churches of Maryland Delaware, New Jersey New York, and West Virginia: also by the Sears Roebuck Foundation and by the Westminster Theological Seminary. KapKing, Lost Creek, was the guest speaker at last night's dinner. For the past 10 years Dr. Rapking was fwofessor of community and rural ife at Hiwassee College, Madison ville. Term, presiding at the dinner was Dr. John Baxter Howes, of the Department of Rural Church at Westminster Theological Seminary.

Venturists Plan Doll Show The annual doll show, sponsored by the Venture Club, will be held on the Municipal Playground Tuesday at 7 p. m. The 10 categories under which each individual doll can be entered are: most unusual, bridal most elaborate, best handmade, best dressed, oldest, smallest, foreign doll, largest, most battered and cutest animal. Three ribbons will be awarded in each specific group. Every child participating in this event will receive a favor.

The show is under the direction of the project committee of Jayne Koelber, Helen Wagner, Dot Ware time, Beverly Barnes, Pat Conover and Shirley Blacksten, chairman. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white handclipped Chantilly lace gown with a floor lemrth skirt and chapel train. The silk French illusion fingertip length veil fell from a headpiece with pearl beading. She carried a white Bible topped with a white orchid with streamers. Mrs. Robert Peregoy, Wood lawn, cousin of the bride, was matron of honor.

Her gown was a ballerina length pastel blue with matching straw headpiece and carried a nosegay of pink carnations. Bridemaids were Miss Linda Staley, Reisterstown, friend of the bride, who wore a pink dress; Miss Barbara Beachley, Havre de Grace, college roommate of the bride, who wore yellow; Mrs. Robert1 Sprinkle, Hampstead, cousin of the bride, who wore green, and Miss Ruth Shilke, Hampstead, cousin of the bride, who wore lavender. All attendants' dresses were fashioned alike with matching straw headpieces with a veil and white wrist gloves. All carried nosegays of carnations.

Miss Staley and Miss Beachley carried blue flowers, and Mrs. Sprinkle and Miss Shilke car ried yellow flowers. Bonnie Utz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. r'aynard Utz, Hampstead, was flower girl.

She wore a white lace over blue taf feta ballerina length dress and white wrist gloves and carried a nosegay of blue and white carnations. He had a coronary attack four weeks ago and suffered another attack Wednesday. He was the husband of Ethel M. Alwine Bean, New Oxford. Born at Ft. Gibson, he was a son of tne late Russell and Alice M.

Leeds Bean. He served in the First Infantry Division for 17 years. He served during World War II and for two and a half years with occupation services in Okinawa. Set. Bean also served the Korean conflict from June, to December, 1952.

Surviving are his wife and one daugnter Margaret A. Bean, and one brother, J. H. Bean, Pacoima, a nall brother, Elzie Woods, and a half sister, Mrs. Bessie Farmer, both of Muskogee.

MISS ROSIE A. THOMAS Miss Rosie A. Thomas, 65, Gardners R. D. 2, died at 4:40 a.

Mc Keldin's second annual conference on Juvenile delinquency, set for September 10 12 at the University of Maryland, will be beamed equally at interested citi zens of Maryland and the state's professional social workers. Tentative plans for the confer ence were made at a meeting of the State Commission on Preven tion and Treatment of Juvenile Delinquency this week. The three dav arovernor's con ference will be divided between general sessions and work group studies as laymen and professionals study the problem of Juvenile delinquency in Maryland. The conference will serve as a springboard for the commission's 14 commmees in drawing up a blueprint for Maryland's delinquency protection and treatment. Each committee will set up a work group headed by an expert in tnat particular nem.
