SATURDAY, JANUARY 23, 2016 CALGARY HERALD CLASSIFIED REMEMBERING Of Creston, BC, aged 67, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2016 with her children by her side. Born in Waverley. NS, she was the daughter of the late Mildred Ostrem (Beach) and Joseph Pierce. Ruth and late husband Roger moved from Airdrie, AB Wyndell, 2002. She is survived by her children Charles, Yvette (Brad).

and Troy (Desiree), sisters MaryLou Barkhouse and Bradley, and grandchildren Dustin. Jessica, and Ty. Jean was born in Amsterdam on November 8, 1927.

As a young woman her strength was evident in her survival of WWII and later in the challenges of immigrating to Canada. Jean Amsterdam and as a couple with a young baby in tow, they immigrated to Alberta in 1952. Jean was a devoted wife, mom and grandmother. She worked and supported Bill in his accounting business. Later she cared for Bill as his needs increased.

Jean enjoyed working at the YWCA for several years. As a mom and grandmother, she delighted in our activities and achievements. Family and friend connection were her joy. Jean took interest in her community and world. She was an avid reader of the Calgary Herald.

She was grateful for tours and trips she took with Bill and her children. Jean's faith communities meant a great deal to her. Be A Blessing, home groups and her Bethel family were a source of enjoyment and spiritual strength. Jean blessed the lives of many people, her family, friends and church family. Her caring of others touched everyone who knew or met her.

Jean gloried in the rich gift of Jesus her Lord. Bill predeceased Jean in 2013. Jean will be deeply missed by her a children, Angie (George) Day, Bernie (Chris) Graven, Joanne (Brian) Clark: grandchildren, Jessica (Alex) Graven, Megan (Jason) Graven, Laura and Ryan Clark and great-grandchildren, Noah and Blaine. Extended family in Holland include her sister, Dien and sisters-in-law, Greet and Hanna, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Private Family Graveside service will take place at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.

He is survived by his sisters: Bonnie McRae (Art) in Calgary, and Vera Greenwood (Alan Inglis) in Cantley, Quebec. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews, and seven great-nieces and nephews.

Ervinis HALL, Lois Luella It is with great sadness that the family of Lois Luella Hall announces that she passed away peacefully on Monday, January 18 at the age of 74 in Nelson, British Columbia. A kind and loving soul, Lois battled recent health issues bravely and was in great spirits at the time of her passing.

Lois was born on May 4, 1941 in Edmonton, Alberta to mother Elsie and father Gordon (Jim) Rothery. She was married to Martin Hall in Calgary on April 8, 1961 and they had two children (Michael and Robert) who they raised in Calgary. She worked in several notable places in Calgary including Burns Foods, the Calgary Press Club and Harding Hall Insurance. She was a member of the Stampede City Kinette Club where she created bonds that lasted a lifetime. Lois will be remembered as a unique character, full of love for all those who entered her life.

Her passion for shopping and collecting dolls was well known. On her hobby of collecting she said: "I figured you can't just be a looker all the time!" Lois is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Martin, sons Michael (Kathy) in Okotoks and Robert (Janice) in Nelson, grandchildren Brianna, Olivia, Kyle and Ashley. She will be forever remembered by her brothers Allan Rothery (Brenda). David Rothery (Sam). Jimmy Rothery (Sharon) and Tom Rothery, (Dori), sister-in-law Geraldine Dickson, brother-inlaw Jerry Holowachuk, mother-in-law Pauline Holowachuk along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Lois was predeceased by her father Gordon (Jim) Rothery and mother Elsie Rothery (nee Friel). A memorial and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 6. 2016 at Canadian Martyrs Church in Calgary (835 Northmount Drive, NW) at 11 a.m. with Father Vincent Mountain presiding. In the last three years, Lois lived at Lakes Seniors Community in Nelson where she received kind and loving care from all of the staff.

The first female bank teller in Calgary, she was a champion of women's rights. She was full partner in Gordon Hewitt Construction and worked tirelessly and enthusiastically as a volunteer and leader in her church and beyond. survived by her four sons and two daughters Tom (Shirley), Paul. Russ, and Bruce (Susan); as well as by her grandchildren Kelli Vance, Sean Hewitt (Megan) and Kim Fedyshen: five greatgrandchildren as well as by her sister Irma Nelson, seven nieces and nephews: and numerous great nieces and nephews. January 15, 2016 at the age of 88 years.

Martin was born on a farm to homesteading pioneers near Slawa, Alberta in 1927. In 1947. he hired on with the CPR as an and he retired in Montreal in 1991 as Chief Of Transportation. Upon retiring. Martin and Joyce returned to Calgary and he pursued his passion for golf with his "Sparrow's" group at the Elks Club.

He had a love for gardening and was a true fan enjoying Hockey. Baseball. Football, and Curling. Playing games was also a favourite pastime including scrabble, dominoes, and any card game, especially crib. His dedication and love for Family was immeasurable.

Martin is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Joyce (nee Annon). sister Martha Kott, sons Doug (Patti), Dennis (Lorraine). (Myrna), ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father Andrew (1970) and mother Lekeria (2002). At Martin's request, no funeral will be held but there will be a private family memorial later date.

MCINNIS HOLLOWAY MACDONALD, Ronald Patrick June 29, 1924-December 1, 2015 We are sad to announce that Ronald Patrick McDonald of Edmonton, Alberta passed away peacefully December 1, 2015. Ron was born June 29.1924 in Calgary, Alberta. He was the eldest son of the late John and Ellen MacDonald.

He was pre-deceased by his wife Gwen (2011) and eldest daughter Patricia (2012) and six brothers and sisters. Ronis survived by his daughters Terri(Rob). Mary Jane (Don), Joanne (Colin), nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Ron trained as pilot in the Air Force in early 1940's and never lost his love of flying. He later pursued a lengthy career in the heavy machinery business.

Ron Gwenrelocated to Edmonton in the mid-1950's. They spent their years developing many good friendships and raising their daughters with love, support and encouragement. Ronhad a quick wit, a great sense of humor, and a smile for all. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him. At Ron's request there will be no service and cremation has taken place.

He will be dearly missed. Mike was born in Medicine Hat Alberta and lived in many parts of Canada before making Calgary his home.

Most beloved by him were Comox B.C, where he enjoyed a few boyhood years and Halifax N.S., where his sons were born. Mike truly enjoyed his 26 year career with Air Canada where he made many lifelong friends and was able to travel extensively. his true passion. Upon retiring in 2005 he and wife Pat had many wonderful trips. He is predeceased by his father Bruce and sister Sheila.

He leaves behind his heartbroken family, wife Patricia, mother Catherine, sister Sandra, sons Scott (Eric) and James (Rachel) and stepchildren Rachel and Benjamin. Also caring for him to the end; John and Anne Siegers, and nieces Megan, Lauren, Jane and Patricia as well as extended family. Special thanks to Units 44 and 36 of the Calgary Foothills Hospital. Lotte was still very lively till the day she passed. She was born in Bavaria on December 6, 1929 in Linach near Munich. She in the mountain resort town of Bad Reichenhall.

Germany near Salzburg. She immigrated to Canada at the age of in 1951. The following year she married a young fellow from East Germany. Manfred Max Melzer, on August 16, 1952. in St.

John, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Cornwall and Kemptville, Ontario, Calgary, Alberta, Hudson Hope, BC, and finally moving back to the Acadia district in Calgary to raise their family. Lotte loved gardening, scrabble, travel, and feeding her many favourite birds. She treasured the family cabin in Sunbreaker Cove on Sylvan Lake, and retirement vacations to Yuma. Arizona. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Manfred.

UK Christmas Day. 1922, and immigrated Canada in 1949.

He was predeceased by parents and brother in the UK. his wife Barbara and grandson Zachary. He survived by son David (Leslie) of Bedford, daughter Susan (Brett); grandchildren Cheyenne, Andrew (Jessica), Benjamin, Christa: great-grandchildren Luchia. Ethan, and Maxim, all of Calgary. Gordon served the Royal Engineers, 6th Airborne Division four years in WWII, and saw service from Battle to Java.

This wartime travel created desire to see more of the world, and at time of his death, he had set foot in countries. Gordon worked in the Structural Steel industry all of his working life, 10 years in the UK and 39 years in Canada with Dominion Bridge Company. He worked in drafting office later in the field participated in the construction of buildings, bridges, and other structures in the NWT. Southeastern BC. and throughout Alberta.

During his working years, he and Barbara found many friendships, but alas, most these acquaintances have moved on passed away. In later years, Gordon was keen photographer with a particular interest in wild flowers, but as age took its toll, he lived a quiet life at his home in Calgary. No service will be held, and in lieu of flowers, he asked that contributions be made to one of many animal charities.
