Ir this case only long suit is so worthless that he should not seriously consider setting it up. Irstead.

West leads the queen of spades in the hope of finding his long suit. As it happens, this opening lead delights East, and he shows his delight by signalling with the ten of spades. If South made the mistake of winning an early spade trick the defenders would take four spade tricks and one diamond. When South refuses the first spade trick. West continues with the jack of spades.

East lakes with the king of spades, and South Must once more refuse the trick. Time To Switch It is now time for East to reconsider. He can set up tho spades by leading the suit once more, hut East has no chance to regain the lead to cash his long spades. It is a waste of time for East to lead a spade, but he can strike a telling blow for his side by switching to the ten of clubs. Now South must lose at least two clubs, two spades and the kir.g of diamonds.

If the defenders had ever made a passive lead, South could have Callicutt Home Meeting Scene For Methodists Mrs. G. W. Callicutt was hostess recently at her home on Bclhpage road to members of the Rosamond Taylor circle of Midway Methodist church. The presiding officer, Mrs.
