NEW CASTLE NEWS, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 29,1977 The ups and downs of winter ICE BOARDING Always looking for the new and unusual, some brave winter sport fans in SHenango Township have taken up "ice boarding." Tommy Bulisco, 12, yesterday demonstrated the procedure on a pond on Bryson Mill Road. Short mini-skis are used like skateboards by youngsters trying to cross the ice without the traditional equipment ice skates. Mary P. Gall Mrs. Marv Plaufcan Gall, 94, of 3040 Grand Highland, a resident of Kerr Street in New Castle for 60 years, died at 1:20 Dec, 28, 1977, in Saint Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, after an extended illness. She was born in Shenandoah, Pa. on Sept.

6, 1883, to the late and Elizabeth Plaufcan. Mrs. Gall was a member of St. Church of New Castle. Her husband Andrew Gall died Aug 8,1949 She is survived by six sons.

Andrew of Saint Petersburg, William and Sylvester, both of Highland, Edward of Baltimore, Albert and Gerald, both of New Castle; a daughter Mrs. George (Margaret) Kolina of Highland, two sisters. Mrs Catherine Gush of New Castle and Mrs. Martha Hughes of Akron, Ohio; 10 grandchildren. 19 grandchildren and three great- great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by two sons, John and Emil, a daughter Geraldine, a brother John Plaufcan; five sisters.

Miss Helen Plaufcan, Mrs. Margaret Kelly, Mrs. Jennie Golis, Mrs. Susan Senda and Mrs, Ann Warso. The body has been returned to New Castle to the Noga Funeral Home S.

Mill and E. Reynolds streets, where friends will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Friday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Mary at 10 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. Eugene Dougherty.

The procession will leave the funeral Home at 9:30 a Saturday for the church. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Mrs. Catherine Saesan Robert E. Payne Sr. Catherine Bursan Saesan, 88.

of 3246 Old Pittsburgh Road, died at 10 a.m, Detv 28, 1977, in her home of an apparent heart attack She was born in Transylvania on April 20. 1889, to the late Chirion and Estina Datish Bursan. Saesiin was a member of Holy Cross Romanian Orthodox Church of Hermitage, and the Albinia Romanian Society of New Castle. Her husband Stephen Saesan died Jan. 30,1974, She is survived by two sons, Aaron and Arnold, t)oth of New Castle; three daughters.

Miss J. Saesan of Hollywood, Mrs. E. Martikala of New Castle, and Mrs. Joseph M.

(Iretta-Letty) Stock of Sharon; 14 grandchildren and 18 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters and a son Friends will be received at the Noga Funeral Home S. and Reynolds streets, from 2 to 4 and 7:30 to 9:30 Evening Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home at 7 m. Friday. The funeral will be at 12:30 p.m, Saturday at the funeral home conducted by the Rev, Nicholas Moldovan of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her name to Holy C'ross Romanian Orthodox Church of Hermitage or to a favorite charity. DeArment BEAVER, Pa William R. De.Arment, 61, of 168 Orchard Drive, formerly of Bessemer and New Castle, died Dec, 28,1977. at his home after a four month illness. He was born in Bessemer, on Jan 11, 1916, to the late Roy and De.Arment. He had resided in Beaver for the past 20 years and was employed as a Guard by the Bruce Mansfield Power Plant at Shippingport.

Mr, DeArment was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Beaver and a veteran of World War II, serving with the Marine Corps in the South Pacific He is survived by his wife, the fomier Rosemary (loettman, and a daughter Rosemary at home; three brothers. Haroid of Reston, Richard of Wheeler. Te.xas, and Phillip of Littleton. a sister Oliver (Thelma) Engle of Scott Depot.

Insurance for cement strikers OKd Emergency insurance is being made available to the 190 members of United Steelworkers Local 2728, currently on strike at the Bessemer Cement Plant This tvpe of insurance which is available to an individual for $19 per month and to families for $38 per month is the same type of insurance which has been available to striking mine workers, said Local 2728 president Frank Luketic Luketic added that the insurance is negotiated a month at a time.
