Ont. 18 Cft A wage trike by 27 powerhouse employes at Chrysler Corporation of Canada has affected the Jobs of approximate-y 6.000 of the company's production workers. The powerhouse employes, members of Local 944, International Union of Operating Engineers.

(AfX), called a strike at midnight last night. They operate the company's power pUnt which produces heat and compressed air for the manufacturing plants. This morning the day shift of aojte 3.300 production workers, numbers of the United Automobile Workers (CIO), went into their Jobs as usual, but were ordered home by the company when It was obvious that nor mal operations could not be carried on. The engineers kept a small staff on hand to keep pipes Irora freezing. The company's office force went to work as usual.

They are getting normal ceat supply. Eisenhower Wants To Use Billion Of Farm Surplus WASHINOTON. Jan. IS President Eisenhower soon will ask Congress, for authority to use up to $1,000,000,000 worth of surplus farm products to help strengthen the economies of friendly coun tries. This plan was disclosed to day by Agriculture Secretary Ezra Taft Benson In a statement before the' Senate Agriculture Committee, outlining the administration's new farm program.

The proposed use of govern ment surpluses which Benson said today now exceed would be In addition to $2,300,000,000 worth of surpluses which would be "In sulated" Irom regular commercial supplies for special uses. Such uses would be for dis aster relief, the school lunch program and for stockpiling for national emergencies. The "Insulating" Idea was advanced by the President a week ago In a special message to Congress outlining his farm program. of how the overseas surplus program would be handled were not specified in Benson's statement. He did say the $1,000,000,000 worth of surpluses would be used over a three year period to "complement our general program of economic and technical development" abroad.
