Muriel was born in Calgary on August 31, 1915 and attended Crescent Heights High School and Mount Royal College. She dedicated her life to her family and church. Muriel will be remembered for her serenity, grace, and generosity of spirit. She will be lovingly remembered by her four daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn (Dennis), Wendy (Ron), Joanne (Larry), Susan (Jack); and by her five sons and four daughters-in-law, Eric, Peter (Carol), Irv (Maria), Merv (Janet), John (Gillian). She will also be remembered by her eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and her sister Ruth.

She will also be lovingly remembered by the countless others whose lives she touched. Muriel was predeceased by her husband Irvine Henry, her daughter June, and her son Thomas. She was born nearly 98 years ago in London, England and came to Canada with her family in 1914. They settled at Jackson Point on Lake Simcoe, Ontario and later moved to Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Eileen graduated as a nurse in Toronto and then took postgraduate training at the Herman Kiefer Hospital in Detroit. When the family moved to Calgary in 1930, Eileen joined them soon afterwards. In 1940, after taking a Sunday School Teacher Training course in Victoria, BC, she joined the Anglican Sunday School Caravan Mission which was instituted by Miss Hasell, an Englishwoman, to serve isolated settlements and parishes across Canada. The summers were spent travelling from community to community bringing Sunday School to the children. During the winter, the "Vanners" were posted to various places, even as far north as Haines Junction in the Yukon.

They also operated Sunday School by Post. Eileen was very dedicated to this Mission work and there is a taped interview of her in the Edmonton Archives describing the "Vanning Later on, Eileen became a Parish Worker in Edmonton first at St. Timothy's when it was a new parish and then at Christ Church. She was a fifty-five year associated member of the Sisters of St. John the Divine (S.S.J.D.) of Edmonton.

Eileen was predeceased by a brother Ralph and a sister Olive Battersby in Ontario. She will be lovingly missed by sisters, Grace Gale and Elsie Buck and brother-in-law Arthur Buck in Calgary; and a brother Geoffrey in Langley, BC; as well as many nieces and nephews in Ontario and the West, and relatives in England. A Memorial Service will be held at the Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd, 408 38 Street S.W. Calgary on Wednesday, February 21 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Church in Edmonton, or the children's charity of your choice.

Beloved husband of Darlene Graham MacLean; and the uncle of Bonnie MacLean Kerby (Brad) and their children, Karmen and Kelsey, Edmonton; Brent MacLean (Frances) and children, Connor and Kyle, Okotoks; Heather Murray Upmalis (David) and children, Jeffrey and Jordan, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.; and Garth Murray, Thunder Bay, Ontario. Ron graduated with the degree of B.Sc.

in Pharmacy from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, in 1952. His first position as a graduate was with the Upjohn Pharmaceutical Company in 1952 and in 1954 he joined the staff of Penley Drugs. Ron became the manager of Penley's Killarney store in 1958 and became co-owner with Lawrence Blain of Penley North Hill Store in 1969. During his career Ron was the president of the Calgary District Retail Druggists Association and later the president of the Calgary Pharmaceutical Society. He was president of the Alberta Pharmaceutical Association from 1971 to 1973, on the board of the Canadian Pharmaceutical Association, was first president of the Canadian Pharmacy Examining Board and was instrumental in providing support for Calgary ostomates.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetic Association or your charity of choice. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Matthew United Church, 2039 26A Street S.W., Calgary, on February 20, 2001 at 7:30 p.m. McDEVITT Ryan Christopher McDevitt November 4, 1981 February 15, 2001 Adored son of Wally and Terry passed away at the young age of 19. He also leaves behind, his stepdad "Big John his beloved grandmothers, Kathleen Bullas and Margaret Saric; and many extended family members and very special friends (you know who you are) and acquaintances.

Ryan was a ray of sunshine, giving love and warmth to everybody he met. Stranger was not a word in his vocabulary, for everyone was his friend. Thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Rockyview and Foothills Hospitals who tried so hard to keep him with us. Your compassion and love has made our tragic loss much easier to bear. He was predeceased by his mother Ola, father Tom and sister Shirley. Lyle was a long-time employee of Canadian Occidental, working as a Millwright (Heavy Duty Mechanic) for many years at the Balzac Gas Plant before his retirement two years ago. MISURA Basil (Wilkie) Misura passed away quietly and peacefully, Sunday, February 18, 2001 at the Banff Mineral Springs Hospital at the age of 80 years. A lifelong resident of Exshaw, Wilkie is survived by his loving wife Mary; as well as six children, Wayne (Christine), Frank (Jan), Joe (Karen), Phyllis (Tim) Kay, Bill (Shannon), and Mark; as well as nine grandchildren, five brothers and three sisters.

Born into a family of nineteen children, Wilkie moved to Exshaw at the age of six months and lived there his entire life except for service in the Second World War, where he served in Italy, Sicily, Britain and Holland. He returned to Exshaw to complete forty-six years working for Lafarge. Prayers for Wilkie will be said Wednesday, February 21, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church, Exshaw.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, February 22, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Mark Buckley, Celebrant. Interment will follow in the family plot at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Calgary at 2:30 p.m. Flowers most gratefully declined.

She will be fondly remembered by her nephews, Hamish Gibson of Corbridge, England and lain Gibson (Miyako); and great-nephew Ewan of Newcastle upon Tyne, England. May will be dearly missed by her good friend Isabella Hendry; as well as her 'adoptive Jim and Cheryl Hendry, Shawn, Kathy, Kaylee, Taylor and Shayla Hendry; Chad and Jodi Hendry; Jill Hendry and Scott Hendry. May was born June 8, 1921 in Glasgow, Scbtland. She immigrated to Canada in 1958 and spent two years in Lethbridge before moving to Calgary in I960.

She was employed by the F.W. Woolworth Company and worked in the office for many years. She enjoyed her retirement years visiting Windermere, BC and Las Vegas. Telephone: 403-256-9575. -003667 LAING Alexander "Al" Laing, beloved husband of Nina Laing of Calgary, passed away at the Colonel Belcher Hospital on February 14, 2001 after an accidental fall at the age of 77 years. Al was born on December 30, 1923 near Codette in rural Saskatchewan. As a teenager, Al enlisted in the army and served overseas in World War II, Korea, and as a Peacekeeper in Egypt.

After an honorable discharge he became a civilian cook at the Currie Barracks until his retirement. He is survived by his loving wife Lenora (Nina) Laing of Calgary; sisters, Emilia Deschamp of Kelowna, Rose Trombley, and Jean (Frank) Leeson; and his brother Alfred (Dorothy) Laing of Prince George; along with many nieces and nephews. Al is predeceased by his father Alfred, mother Ernestine, and stepfather Arthur Hawley. Al was an active Legion Member of Branch No. 238.

He enjoyed playing shuffleboard and crib, as well he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
