Ann Landers Cool cat not ready lor anything heavy Dear Ann lenders: I am a girl 15, not beautiful but my looks wouldn't scare small children. 1 had four dates with this cool cat I'll call Hon. We nt along neat. lie seemed to like me as much as I liked him. Last night, after a terrific evening, he hemmed and hawed at the front door and finally said, "This wiJI be the lust time.

I think we'd better stop seeing each other before we (jet into trouble. I haven't been around much and I don't think I'm ready for anything heavy." I was grossed out. There was no reason for Iton to be worried about "anything heavy." He held my hand in a movie once and that's as far as it wen I. I cried for two hours last night and I'm crying again as I write this letter. (Forgive the smeary looks of it.) I just can't believe Iton wanted to end our friendship for the reason he gave.

Please help me figure this dude out. Weepy Wanda Dear Wanda: If Iton told you he didn't want to sec you again because you have purple toenails and two heads would you feel better? The point I'm gelling at is this; What difference does the reason make? Iton wants lo it so lake the hint and stop crying. Your letter looks as if you dropped il in the bathtub. Fish in other waters, Doll. Dear Ann lenders: Our daughter and pur son's wife are both wonderful girls.

My husband and I love them very much. We know they love us a lot because every Sunday they come here for dinner, with their children. (A total of six young ones.) This means ten people to cook for and servo. (Yes, equally destructive conditions that force water and sewage back into the house? Admittedly, this does not occur often, but It does indeed happen! And if you are the victim with i basement bathroom, washtub or sink, the waste water often laced with raw sewage pours from the drains because the water outside is above the level of the lowest indoor drain. To prevent such sewer backups, there are "one-way" check valves that permit the flow of water only in one direction; when water flows In the oppposite direction a hinged flapper" closes the opening.

These valves require regular maintenance and are quite expensive. So when inventor Julius Siegd found thai' Us sewer line and that of his neighbors was backing up whenever the catch basin down the street became clogged, he decided to create a low -cost solution to the problem. The Siegel valve is always placed in the main trap as shown; by pulling it in the "up" position, sewage is permitted to drain away from the borne in the usual manner. By pushing it down and expanding the rubber ring, the trap is sealed, thereby preventing sewage from backing up! Use may require local building code approval. To install, the plug is removed on the street side of the main trap and the Jiffy valve screwed in place.

A gasket seals the plunger rod and permits moving the expandable rubber ring assembly up or down. When in the down position, a few turns of the handle expands the rubber ring against the wall of the trap. In some Instances the threads of the trap are damaged when the plug it removed, in which case screwing in the regular cap may be impossible. Another modd of the Jiffy valve has an expandable rubber plug that takes the place of the regular threaded plug. It would be heaven if we could take a nap after church once in a while and have a sandwich by ourselves or go out, just the two of us. But we can't.

This ritual has been established and I seem to be stuck with it. I wonder how many married children realize what dinners mean in terms of work. If married children enjoy Sunday dinners with their parents, why don't they at least take turns? I wouldn't mind having mine every third week or better yet, every fourth week. Then Dad and I could go out by ourselves once a month. Please print my letter, Ann.

It could be the salvation of many gnarled hands and tired feet. If my daughter or daughter-in-law asks me If 1 wrote it (they both read your column) I'll say, "Yes." I Live In Durham, N.C.
