Industrials moved in a narrow fractional range for some alight advances and golds and base metals brightened on small gains. Western oils were mixed in a two-way movement The volume was about 720,000 shares. An opening burst of trading sent prices higher but market had difficulty holding the gains as activity, slowed to a crawl. A few steels and foods were better in the Industrial groupings while utilities, agriculture and papers were mixed on a slightly weaker tone. Banks firmed and Canadian Breweries attracted gome atten tion at a lower price.
