in inn's carpets found unconnected to blaze Volatile materials found in carpeting of the Stouffer's Inn in Harrison, N.Y., where 26 persons died in a fire, were used routinely as "housekeeping products" and not as "accelerants" to start the blaze, according to findings of state arson prober Edson White. The findings are in an affidavit by White filed in the arson-murder trial of former hotel busboy Louis Marin, 25, who is charged with setting the fire. Marin's lawyers charged yesterday that prosecutors had not allowed White to testify before a Westchester County grand jury probing the case. They asked that the charges be dismissed. White said in the affidavit that he found volatile materials in the carpeting of the hotel's conference center, where the Dec.

4, 1980, fire started. But, he said, the materials were routinely used as "housekeeping products." Acting Supreme Court Justice Angelo Ingrassia will hear arguments on the issue Jan. 21. OBITUARY WILSON LEHR Wilson Lehr, 68, former director of theater at Brooklyn College, died Monday of cancer at his home in Kent, Conn. The New York-born teacher, playwright and actor graduated from Jamaica High School in Queens.

He received his bachelor's degree from Harvard and his master's in fine arts from the Yale University Drama School. Lehr's plays included "So Much Velvet" and "Asses." ELLIOTT AVERETT Elliott Averett, 64, chairman and chief executive officer of Bank of New York died of cancer yesterday at his home in New Vernon, N.J. Averett, who joined the banking firm in 1940, was elected president of the Bank of New York in 1968, chief executive officer in 1973 and chairman in 1974. VON BULOW FROM PAGE TWO show that von Bulow and Isles "cohabited together a two-bedroom cottage" at the Lyford Cay Club in Nassau, the Bahamas, "between Feb. 11 and Feb.

17, 1981," and that other witnesses will prove they traveled to Nassau and returned together on a plane. At that time, Mrs. von Bulow was in the second month of a comatose condition described by specialists as irreversible. The coma, according to the state, was the result of an attempt by her husband to kill her with an injection of insulin at their mansion here in December 1980. Before and after this alleged assault, according to records on file at the court, von Bulow called Isles at her Manhattan apartment and at her sister-in-law's apartment in Watch Hill, R.I.

AFTER FAHRINGER brought up the extramarital affair, the prosecutor mentioned it in his questioning of jurors, telling them he would bring in such evidence "not to show that he is a sinful man, not to show that he is an immoral man," but to try to prove that this was one of the motives for the alleged murder attempts. The prosecutor said he does not, under the law, have to show any motive but he will bring in the affair with Isles and will discuss the wealth of both Mrs. von Bulow and her husband to show the jurors "a number of possible motives for why the defendant tried to kill his wife, if he did so." Fahringer asked the prospective jurors questions about their feelings concerning what he called "the summer colony" here and rich people in general. During the summer, Newport is filled with residents of oceanfront mansions along Bellevue known as Millionaires' Row. The von Bulows were members of that colony.

By the end of yesterday's session, three married women and a bachelor had been tentatively qualified as jurors. All were questioned individually, and once accepted, were excused until the end of the week. DEATH NOTICES DELL'AQUILA-Vera (nee Paladino). Jan 12, 1982. Beloved wife of Anthony.
