(AP) James Grant George's main hope of surviving leukemia is a bone marrow transplant from a close blood relative. But George, who was adopted as an infant, doesn't know who his relatives are. The answer is in sealed records of the Jackson County Circuit Court. Last Friday, after an 11 month legal fight, a judge ruled that George, 33, had not shown the "compelling circumstances" required under state law to see them. George said yesterday that he will appeal.

"I'm wasting so much of my life fighting the state of Missouri," George, said by telephone from his home in Miami. "And I don't know how much-time I have left. But, yes, we're going to appeal." GEORGE, A COMPUTER systems consultant with a wife and two children, has chronic myelocytic leukemia, a disease doctors say is usually fatal in three to four years. The illness was diagnosed in July 1980. When George requested the adoption records, County Circuit Judge Gene Martin contacted the mother George has never known and appointed attorney Michael Curley to represent her.

Last week, Curley said, George's mother and her daughter offered to undergo a test to determine if they had compatible bone marrow on the conditions that no other relatives on the mother's side be contacted and that George's petition to learn their identities be dropped. George turned down the offer. "THAT GIVES ME nothing," he said. "Even if they matched, there was CATEGORY A Extends the time that part-time token booths will not be manned.
