What did in the villains? Their attempt to duplicate Para-: mount's sizzling new movie, "Raiders of the Lost Ark." Paramount's campaign to protect "Raiders" from pirates was the studio's most elaborate anti-theft effort on any single film to date, Joseph A. Moscaret, Paramount's v.p. of security told us.

According to FBI estimates, the film industry loses over $100 million a year in box office receipts to pirates, who make unauthorized copies of films and sell them on cassettes or for private screenings.
