A September 5,1996 Thursday, E10 Herald A Announcements Deaths 860 ADAM George D. Adam, formerly of Calgary and Red Deer, passed away at the Didsbury Hospital on September 2, 1996, at the age of 81. George will be lovingly remembered by his stepson Jim (Mary Lou) McCreadie; son-in-law Doug (Evelyn) Pigeon; sister Velma (Reg) Hansen; nine grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. George was predeceased by his wife Louisa in 1995, his stepdaughter Louise in 1991, and by three sisters. Telephone: 297-0888. -169680 ANDERSON Laurence Edwin Anderson, of Calgary, passed away suddenly on August 30, 1996 at the age of 76 years.

He leaves to celebrate his life, son Robbie; daughter-in-law Leslie; three granddaughters, Sarah, Lisa and Robin; and his brother Garfield and his wife Jocelyn; sisters-in-law, Kay Anderson and Frances Fawkes. Laurence was predeceased and by his wife Ruby, in 1993; his parents, Bob (1964) Addie (1966) Anderson; and his brothers, Tommy (1970), Bobbie (1990). Laurence served in the Canadian Armed Forces in the R.C.E.M.E. Division from 1942 to 1946. He was overseas for nearly four years.

In his younger years Laurence was an outstanding hockey and ball player. For many years Laurence worked as a master carpenter with Alberta Wood Products, the Calgary Board of Education, and Allied Woodraft. He spent his retirement years at Sorrento, B.C. and Calgary. Ted Antkowiak, beloved husband of Stefania of Calgary, Alberta, passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on September 2, 1996, at the age of 72 years.

Besides his loving wife; Ted is survived by two sons and daughters-inlaw, and three daughters and sons-in-law, Henry and Lynda of Brooks, Eric and Lorna of Airdrie, Helen and Mike Brown of Calgary, Dianne and Darrell Lakusta of Regina, Yvonne and Mathieu Schneider of New York; as well as eight grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Frank of Leicester, England; and stepsister Irene of Leicester, England. Ted served in the Polish Army under British Command. He then immigrated to Canada in 1947 where he met his loving wife Stefania and exchanged vows in 1951 and later resided in Coleman, Alberta; later residing in Calgary raising their five children and eight grandchildren. Predeceased by his sister Evelyn Chipperfield, brother Ted Astell and grandson Dwayne Hayworth. Born May 4, 1908 in Glen Ewen, Saskatchewan, Art worked in the agricultural areas before joining the R.C.A.F. in 1939. At the end of the war, Art was attached to General Crerar, General Commander, Canadian First Army, where he looked after the servicing of his light aircraft. After his discharge in 1946, he returned to farming and carpentry in the Sibbald, AB.

and Vernon, B.C. areas, before retiring in 1987 to Calgary. Relatives and friends are invited to Visitation at the Calgary Crematorium Chapel Thursday evening, September 5, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the CALGARY CREMATORIUM CHAPEL, 3219-4 Street N.W.

-182861 ATKINSON Mrs. Ellen Lucy (Nellie) Atkinson of High River, formerly of Nanton, passed away at the High River Hospital on September 2, 1996. She was born August 21, 1900 in Hertfordshire, England and came to Canada with her parents, George and Sarah Dew in 1908. She is survived by her loving children, Molly (Scarlett) Cochian, Doris Blake, Nina McArthur, Terry Atkinson, all of Nanton, Shirley (John) Hay, Innisfail and Anita (Doug) McCully, Calgary; and by fourteen grandchildren, twentytwo great grandchildren and SIX great greatgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Tom in 1955.

Mrs. Atkinson was a devoted member of Christ Church Anglican, Nanton, and a loyal member of the ACW. Memorial Services will be held at Christ Church Anglican, Nanton on Thursday, September 5 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Allan Bonertz officiating.

John was a longtime employee of Cominco at Calgary, retiring in 1970. She is the loving mother and grandmother of a son and daughter-inlaw, Donald and Verena Holmes and their children, Lisa, Alanna, and Tyler, all of Ottawa, Ontario; two daughters and a son-in-law, Margaret Rose, and Paula and A. Kip Hermann, all of Calgary. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth, in 1971. Margaret was a kind and considerate person who had a deep love for children, especially her own grandchildren. Margaret had a quick witty way, enjoyed her family and many friendships which endured through her diligent correspondence and loyal manner throughout the years.

-190974 KERR Alexander (Alex) Kerr, of Calgary, died in the Calgary General Hospital, September 1, 1996, at 95 years of age. He was predeceased by his loving wife Annie in 1988. He is survived by son Robert (Joyce), daughter Ann (Robert) McLeod; five grandchildren: Marilyn (George) Reti, Linda (Henry) Crawford, John (Donna) Ferrara-Kerr, Greg (Janice) McLeod and, Leslie (Rod) Herchak; twelve great grandchildren Natalie, Julianne, Christina, Jordan and Justin Reti; Jennifer and Drew Crawford; Bradley and Christie Herchak; Andrew, Rielly and Liam McLeod. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Alex came to Calgary in 1923. He was employed by the C.P.R.

as a locomotive machinist until retirement in 1966. He was a founding member of the C.P.R. Ogden Credit Union. A member of C.P.R. Pensioners Association, Confederation Park Seniors Club, and Rosedale United Church.

nephews. Lea was a caring and compassionate wife, homemaker, mother and grandmother with a sharp wit and wonderful sense of humor whose predominant interest in life was her family. One of her great pleasures was spending summers at the Shuswap Lake with her children and grandchildren. MAYER Konrad John Mayer passed away at the Forest Grove Care Centre on Monday, September 2, 1996 at the age of 86 years. Born at Kendal, Saskatchewan on October 29, 1909, he was the oldest son of Nick and Barbara Mayer.

He married Mollie Schmidt in 1933, and was predeceased by his wife in 1993. Left to mourn his passing are his son Orville and daughter-in-law Anna; two grandchildren, Karen Collette; as well as one brother; and five sisters. Along with farming in the Balgonie area, Konrad was active in the Cooperative movement until selling his farm and taking up residence in the city of Regina in 1958. Employed at the Parliament Buildings for ten years, he then moved to Calgary in 1968; a city he loved and enjoyed. From 1968 to retirement in 1974 he worked for the Government of Alberta as a fuel dye man at Imperial Oil.

An avid outdoor person, he pursued his hobby of fishing and hunting until poor health prevented further outings. A helping hand was always extended to those who called on him, and his kindness will be remembered by all who knew him. Farewell to a wonderful father, loving brother and friend to all. Deaths 860 MciNTOSH- Ivy Muriel (nee McKain), called into the arms of her Lord on Monday September 2, 1996 after a lengthy and courageous fight. Survived by her loving husband of fifty-five years, Kenneth Mcintosh of Drumheller. Beloved daughter Twyla (Kent) McLellan of Drumheller, daughter-in-law Jeanette McIntosh of Calgary, five grandchildren, Sean McIntosh of Calgary, Susan McIntosh of Calgary, Kyle McIntosh of Drumheller, Christopher McLellan and Daniel McLellan both of Drumheller. Ivy was predeceased by both her parents, three brothers and by her only son Ken who passed away in October, 1990. Ivy was born May 17, 1919 in Kevisville, Alberta.

On March 26, 1941 she married Hugh Kenneth McIntosh of Hussar, Alberta. Over their many years together, Ivy and Ken endeavored in many occupations, the last being farming in the Duck Lake area near Hussar, until their retirement to Drumheller in 1976. Ivy enjoyed and excelled in her bowling, with the Golden Age Bowling League in Drumheller. In her younger years Ivy thoroughly enjoyed dancing, horseback riding and playing baseball of which she was a lifelong fan. Ivy was an excellent homemaker, cook, a wonderful loving, empathetic wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She will be greatly missed and her memory forever treasured by her family, friends and all who knew her. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Monday, September 9, 1996 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial gardens. He was loved and cherished by his wife and best friend, Beverley; his Alex (Barbara), Diane of Calgary, and Douglas of Yellowknife, the joys of his life, his grandchildren, Elliot, Allison and Norman, Max, Indiana Jesse; his sister Jane (Eric) of Toronto, Ontario; his friend Donald Fraser of Victoria, B.C.; and his many relatives. John was highly respected in the legal profession, a pioneer.

He was a principal founder of the Arbitration and Mediation Society, the first Complaints Officer at the Alberta Law Society and very in legal education. His work set interesting precedents and techniques in insolvency law. He earned as mentor to many lawyers with whom he worked trained. He caringly assisted his colleagues and the for over forty years. He was a modest man who many important things.

John demonstrated sense of honesty, integrity, acceptance, caring and to all who knew him. He will forever be remembered by his family and friends for his endless compassion and concern. John will be profoundly missed family and by all who knew him. Horie was in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on August 4, 1911. He his transportation career with the Canadian Railway in 1928. He joined Gulf Canada, formerly as BA Oil, in 1938 and rose from billing clerk traffic manager during his thirty eight years with company at three locations, Moose Jaw, Calgary, and He was a Member of the Masonic Lodge Jaw, and was an honorary Member of the Canadian Industrial Traffic League and was named Transportation Man of the Year in 1977, after in 1976. Michael is survived by his loving parents, Jenny and Brian; as well as his younger sister Katey. Michael had a tremendous amount of energy and was happiest playing physical sports, especially hockey. Michael enjoyed life to the fullest. He was able to bring a smile to anyone's face. His heart gave more warmth and love in eight years than most can give in a lifetime. Kay and Fred also lived in various other parts of Alberta and later moved to Calgary in 1967, living here ever since. Kay will be sadly missed by her sons and families, friends and all who knew her.
