DEATHS AND FUNERALS A Bonn Threat To Egyptians BONN, Germany (AP) West Germany threatened today to cut off economic aid to Egypt because of the impending visit to Cairo of East German President Whiter Ulbricht. At the same time, Israel angrily rejected Bonns offer to compensatory ecou-omic aid in place of arms shipments canceled by West Germany under U.A.R. pressure. Prime Minister Levi Esh-kol charged in Jerusalem that Chancellor Ludwig Erhards government gave in to Egyptian blackmail in ending arms shipments to Israel.

Kosygin returned today from an 11-day Asian tour, after promising Communist North Viet Nam Soviet military aid, and meeting with Red Chinese leaders in Peking. Immediately after landing, Kosygin met privately with Soviet Communist leader Leonid I. Brezhnev and other top officials for 25 minutes in an airport lounge. In his stops at Hanoi, Peking and the North Korean capital of Pyongyang, Kosygin stressed Communist unity. But there was no indication that either Moscow or Peking had backed down on basic issues dividing them.

Born at Bradys Bend, Mr. Barnhart came to Kansas with his parents in 1880 and settled on a farm northwest of Iola. In 1902, he married Ethyl Kees of Neosho Falls, and they moved to a farm west of Iola, where he spent the remainder of his life as a farmer. During the 1920s, he served two terms as a county commissioner, and he also served a number of years on school and township boards. Survivors include his widow of the home; three daughters, Mrs.

Dorothy B. Anderson of Iola, Miss Marjorie Barnhart of Washburn, and Mrs. Le-nore Osborn of Iola; two sons, Max of Overland Park and Don of the home; a sister, Mrs. Emma Long of Iola; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.

m. Wednesday at the Waugh Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Iola Township Cemetery. BLAZE IS FATAL KANSAS CITY (AP) Harley Adolf Smith, 71, who lived alone, died in a fire at his home Sunday. His body was found in a chair, and his clothing was almost entirely burned away.

m. in a collision with another vehicle in the 300 block on South Washington, police reported today. The driver of the other vehicle, a 1948 Chevrolet pickup truck, was Mrs. Mary Heinz, 47, of rural Iola. Culver told police he was headed south on Washington, watching other traffic and did not see the truck until the time of impact.

Mrs. Heinz said she was pulling away from the chrb and had looked back but did not see the station wagon. Carl Richard Jones, Carthage, is a patient at the St. Johns Hospital in Spring-field, room 1041. He entered the hospital Feb.

1 and underwent major surgery Feb. 12. Mr. Jones is a son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs.

Lewis A. Howland and he and his wife are former residents of Iola. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E.

Os born and their son, Steven of Kansas City, visited over the weekend with Mrs. Osborn's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd C. Smith.

Raymond H. Hoc-kett, son of Mrs. Loretta Hockett, rural Bronson, completed an 8-week wheeled vehicle mechanic course under the Reserve Enlistment Program at Ft. Leonard Wood, Feb. 12.

During the course Hockett received instruction in the internal combustion engine, automotive power train, chassis components, and was trained to use and maintain various tools and equipment. Jack Locke and their son arrived Saturday from Prescott for a weekend visit with the Keith Locke family, and Mrs. Anita Locke returned home with them yesterday. U.S.-Soviet Consular Treaty Still in Dark WASHINGTON (AP) Sen. J. W. Fulbright says he doesnt know when his Senate Foreign Relations Committee will get around to hearings on the U.S.-Soviet consular treaty. The Arkansas Democrat said in an interview the committee has a heavy workload on other matters.

The treaty, signed last June 1 and submitted to the Senate 11 days later, would authorize negotiations for the Soviet Union to open consular offices in such cities as New York, Chicago and San Francisco in return for similar U.S. offices in the Soviet Union.
