Claire Morgan, Kroshus's mother, is a former member of the Canadian track team and still holds the national record for 15-year-old girls. "I know Emily would like to break her mom's record," said Ulaszonek.

"She's come within six seconds." Pause for thought Lee, a Grade 12 student at Scarlett, NOTEBOOK years yet," he said, noting the majority of players are Grade 10 students. The Saints, and most of the high school girls' teams, have a number of city league players and relative beginners in the sport. "It's a matter of gelling as a team. We've had a rash of injuries and had to change some positions, so the girls have been a little confused, but we can get on top of that," said Altrogge. "They're an easy team to coach." The Cardinals, 5-1-0, are in first place, but coach Ed Wozniak says, "It's anybody's game." Wozniak's young team has club players and those who haven't played for a few years, but on the field the team comes together. "We get better each time out," said the coach.
