Born in Kilmarnock, Scotland on September 5, 1899, Bill was predeceased by his wife Anne, in October 1994, and by two brothers and one sister in the U.K. He is survived by two sons, Ian (Flo) of Calgary and Ron (Claudette) of Edmonton; six grandchildren, and four greatgrandchildren. Bill is also survived by several nieces and nephews in Scotland. He served with the Highland Light Infantry during World War I and immigrated to Canada in 1 927, settling in Winnipeg.

In Canada, Bill was employed by the Dominion Bridge Company until his retirement in 1964. Bill and Anne were longtime members of Central United Church. Jack was a life member of APEGA, a member of Pinebrook Golf and Country Club, the Westwinds Curling Club, and SACA, where he ran Southern Alberta Seniors Curling Playdowns for many years.
