Philip Shapel, 64, who has been associated with local oil producing firms for the past 40 years, died Saturday night at the Veterans Hospital, Wichita, where he has been a patient for the past seven weeks. Mr. Shapel was born in Allen County and has lived here all of his life. During World War he served overseas with Company 110th Field Signal Battalion, participating in the St.

Milled and Meuse-Argonne battles. Following his discharge from the army he returned to Iola and was employed on the Maire-Hin-ton oil leases. In more recent years he has boon with the Kansas City Testing Laboratories. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr.

Max Schell and family. Mrs. Nora Kidney Mrs. Nora Kidney, 87, a long time resident of Allen County, died this morning at Tulsa, where she has lived for several years. Mrs.

Kidney was born in Georgia, coming to Kansas at an early age. She and her husband lived in LaHarpe before moving to Iola nearly 40 years ago. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Clyde White, Kansas City, a step-son, Leonard Kidney, Tulsa, a daughter, Mrs. L.
