Williford of Temple was a of friends here Saturday. Misses Laura and Martha Faye TAUstin were Corsicana visitors Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Herman Inmon of Kerens was here several days last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.

R. Harrison and Miss Katherine Christian of Corsicana visited friends here Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Albritton of Oklahoma spent the week-end in the home of Ike Kiser.

The Powell school was closed Friday, honoring George birthday. Fred Elliott was a visitor in Kerens Tuesday. Zack Banks attended to business jn Waco and Temple Tuesday. Misses Katherine and Thyra Kenner motored to Corsicana for the afternoon Saturday. Mr.

and Mrs. Fred Ellett and small daughter spent several days in Dallas last week. Tom Ferguson and daughters, Lois and Lota were Corsicana visitors Saturday afternoon. Mrs. John Christian and Mrs.

Esther Washam were joint hostesses on Saturday evening at the home of Mrs. Christian at a delightful forty-two partv and shower, honoring Mrs. H. Williford of Temple, a recent bride. The patriotic note in observance of the birthday anniversary of George Washington which had just passed predominated in the appointments for the game.

High score favor fell to Mrs. Loyd Melton. Little Miss Sue Washam and Sonny Russell dressed as Martha and George Washington brought in a small wagon loaded with gifts, which they presented to the bride. After opening and admiring them, a most tempting refreshment plate, each with a George Washington favor was served. Mrs.

H. Harrison and Miss Katherine Christian were out-of-town guests. EMHOUSE EMHOUSE, Feb. one is glad to see the sun shine once more and are hoping it continues several days, so that the farmers may get the ground broken and corn planted. Mrs.

De Rusha of Cryer Creek were visiting relatives in Enmouse Tuesday. Mrs, L. R. Hall and children have returned to Emhouse and will make their future home here. Jack McManus, Arthur Watson, Ed De Rusha and Jack Hill attended an entertainment near Rankin Tuesday night.

Feb. Allen, student of State University enjoyed the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allie Allen. Mis Anna Fay Ledford of Rice was at home for the week end and had as her guest Miss Mildred Carrington, also a teacher of Rice public school.

At the close of the meeting, lovely refreshments were served. Rev. Cowan, pastor of the. Methodist church, left Tuesday for Scott sanitarium, where he will have an X-ray picture made of his side. Rev.

Hobbs, aged 76 years died at his home here Thursday afternoon following an illness of several months but had been confined to his bed for the past two weeks. He is survived by a wife, four sons and three daughters. Woody Hobbs of Wolf City; E. E. Hobbs.

Cassels of Ferris, Funeral services conducted at the Methodist church Friday afternoon at 3 with Rev. Bowman, his pastor, Rev. A. E. arraway of Corsicana, and Rev, W.

H. Day officiating. Burial was in the Rice cemetery under the direction of W. F. Hodge.

Joe Grizzard, aged 53, died at his home in Alma Monday evening at 8 Funeral services were conducted in the Rice cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 3 by Rev. W. O. Patterson of Ensign. J.

E. Keever of Ennis had charge of the burial. Hugh South of Houston spent the week-end here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.

R. Hall returned Saturday night from a business trip to Slayton. Georga Otto of Houston spent the week-end here, a guest of Miss Mvrtle Dyer. J. S.

Hall and L. R. Hall went to Waco, Tuesday. Miss Prebble Neal of Austin attended the funeral of her grandfather, J. W.

Hobbs, here Friday. Miss June Hall of Corsicana, spent the week-end here with her grandparents, Mr, and Mrs. J. Hall. Etheridge South returned to Houston after spending several days here with home folks.

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Gallemore and little daughter and J. Boucher returned to Desdemonia, Monday after spending several days here with relatives. Mrs.

J. P. South has been sick with the flu this week. about two weeks ago and had the misfortune to break a rib or two. Dr.

H. H. Stephenson left Tuc day for Winnsboro to be at the bedside of his little grganddaugh- ter. w-ho is seriously sick. Dr.
