(Mort), passed away peacefully at the Colonel Belcher Hospital in Calgary on April 9, 1 995 just forty-one days short of his 100th birthday. He SALLAI Margaret Sallai Senior passed away peacefully at the Mayfair Nursing Home on April 1 2, 1 995 at the age of 97 years. Born in Nagyszollos, Hungary, on November 1, 1897. She is survived by her son Joseph C. Sallay of Calgary; daughter-in-law Margaret Sallay; grandchildren Margaret and Robert Bowness of Calgary and Joe M.

Sallay of Cold Lake; sister Jolan Szojka of Calgary; nephews, Frank Szojka of Edmonton, Lorand Szojka of Lethbridge, and Dr. Julius Kiss of Calgary; as well as many other relatives in Budapest, Hungary. She is the loving mother of Lome (Edith) Thurston of Toronto, Beverley MacLeod of Calgary, Ian Thurston of Vancouver, Linda Davidson of Calgary; eleven grandchildren, Bob (Colleen) Smith, Wendy (Dave Austin), Brenda (Bill Jessup) Thurston, Heather (Pierre Brault) MacLeod, Carol (Bill) McNamara, Sandra (Rob Morrison) MacLeod, Alan (Susan) MacLeod, Suzanne Thurston, Sally Thurston, Brenda Davidson, Kevin Davidson; nine greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by sons-in-law, Ron Smith and Jack MacLeod. She is the loving mother of Vi and George Williams of Calgary, Rudy Yagos of Mulhurst, Mona and Raymond Schaap of Coleman, Bob Yagos, Donna and Robert Grant, and Diane and Stephen Krisa, all of Calgary; twenty grandchildren and twenty-nine greatgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Doreen Mahon in 1973 and her husband Stephen in 1988.

204461 YOUNG Mrs. Mary Young, beloved wife and companion of fifty-three years of August Young, passed gently home on April 12,1 995 to meet her Saviour. Mary who was in her 74th year, leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannette and Ewald Kubke, Frances and Rob Tomlinson; and her grandchildren, Janie, Jason and Jessica Kubke, and Mike and Mark Tomlinson. She is also survived by her sister Ann Loeppky, and her brother Art Ketler, both of Manitoba. Mary will be dearly missed by numerous other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by a sister and three brothers. Mary's faith provided the serenity in her passing as it did in her daily life. BROWN Mrs. Sheila May Brown of Calgary, passed away at the Holy Cross Hospital on April 11,1 995. She is the loving mother of two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lachlan and Lori-Jo, and Randy, all of Calgary; as well as three grandchildren, Cody, Kayla and Lisa. Sheila is also survived by three sisters and a brother-in-law, Katherine Brown of Olds, Marg Gillespie of Lethbridge, and Dorothy and Rome Charlebois of Armstrong, B.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her infant son Daniel, parents, David and Jamesina McBean, brother David McBean, and two sisters, Muriel Harris and Jean Tilley.

A native Calgarian, Sheila lived here all of her life. She worked at Reed Tool Co. for over forty years until her retirement from there in 1 985, after which she continued to work on a part-time basis at Florabelles. Sheila was a member of the Desk and Derrick Club and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 276.

She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. Rose was predeceased by a sister Julie. Rosie had worked at various Coop Stores during her career of over fifteen years. Hickle passed away April 1 1 1995 in the Palliser Nursing Home at Hanna, Alberta at the age of 94 years and one month. She was bom at Kewanna, Indiana, March 10, 1901 and came to Calgary with her parents in 1910.

She became a teacher, and her first school was Stewartville, eight miles east of Rose Lynn. She then taught at Cheadle, then moved to the city to teach at Sunalta, Melville Scott and Mount Royal, retiring in 1964. She was a member of First Baptist Church, belonging to the Gullison group and the Yoke Bearer's Bible class. She was predeceased by her father in July 1963, and her mother in January 1965. She came to Hanna in November 1 985 and resided in the lodge for five years, then in the nursing home since then.

She leaves to mourn her loss her special caregivers, Luella Hickle and Ruth Odell, cousins and friends. 193612 LAMB Elsie passed away peacefully at her home in Edmonton on April 12, 1995. Left with treasured memories of their loving mother are her children, Kenneth (Maria) of Calgary, Donald of Calgary, Isabelle of Edmonton, and Islay (Brian) of Calgary; twenty grandchildren and thirty-one greatgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Lindsay and her son Norman. Mrs. Lamb was bom in Winnipeg and moved to Hoselaw, Alberta at an early age with her parents.

She later married Lindsay Lamb and raised five children with him at Hoselaw where they farmed for forty-four years. Ingolf is also survived by three brothers and a sister, Arnold (Nellie) Hoveland, Berttle (Lily) Hoveland, Ida (Henry) Gunderson, and Cleon (Edith) Hoveland; as well as numerous other relatives, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son Wayne in 1970, his parents, Ludwig and Augusta Hoveland, mother and father-in-law, John and Igna Westberg, and brother Lief Hoveland. Born on June 9, 1921 in Ryley, Alberta, Ingolf grew up and was educated in the Camrose area. He served overseas with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1941 to 1945. He married Florence Westberg in 1945, and they were soon to celebrate their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary. Ingolf, Florence and family lived in Camrose, Edmonton and Red Deer before coming to Calgary in 1972.

Ingolf was a member of many organizations, including the Nanton Landcaster Society, the Bomber Command Association, the Camping Clubs of Alberta, The Friendly Ones and the Alberta Retiree Trailer Clubs. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 264 since 1 972 serving as a Service Officer, Sons of Norway, Vasa Lodge, and the Scandinavian Centre. Ingolf was an avid fisherman and hunter, carpenter by trade, and worked for Keith Construction for several years before retiring. He has many wonderful longtime friends and wiil be missed by all who knew him.

G. Walter (Wally) Johnson, beloved husband for forty-seven years of Mrs. Pauline Johnson of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on April 12, 1995 at the age of 79 years. He is also father of a son, Mylo Johnson and his children, Nicole and Ryan, all of Seattle, Washington. Walter is also survived by a brother Harold Johnson of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister Alice Gardner, and two brothers, Arthur and Milton Johnson. Walter was bom June 14, 1915 in Calgary and was raised in the Delacour area. He went to work for Greyhound Lines in 1941, and after spending four years in the Air Force, returned to Greyhound Lines in 1 946, retiring in 1 975. Ethel Willson, Rimbey, is the only surviving sister of an original family of ten. Mort was born May 20, 1 895 at Lyons, Nebraska, immigrating to Lacombe, Alta. in 1900. He was predeceased by his wife Ruby in 1969, and by his second wife Pearl Roe in 1972. He served overseas in World War I until wounded during the Battle of Passchendaele on November 7, 1 91 7.

He was active for many years in the War Amputations of Canada and was the oldest surviving World War I amputee in Canada. He was Secretary-Treasurer of Hook Signs Ltd. at the time of his retirement in 1951, having joined the firm in 1 932. Mort received his Seventieth Year Masonic jewel from Bow River Lodge No. 1 in May 1994 and was a member of the Scottish Rite and Al Azhar Shrine Temple and an honorary member of the Shrine Mounted Patrol.

He was an inspiration to his family and all who knew him with his independent spirit, honesty and courage in the face of adversity. He fought for life to the end. His family feels fortunate to have had him with them for so long. Appreciation and thanks go to the staff at the Colonel Belcher Hospital for the care and attention Mort received during his three year stay there. Following Private Family Interment Services, a Memorial Service celebrating Mort's life will be held at 1:00 p.m., April 21, 1995 at FOSTER'S Garden Chapel, 3220 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta.

She is survived by two loving children, Maureen Jones and Larry Lemon, and Dan and Laurie Nowak. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Shannon, Cristy, Trevor, Nicole and Dana who were her pride and joy.

Mary is also survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pearl and Sandy Melynk and Lena and Walter Piontek; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry and Nancy, John and Helen, and Bill and Rose Skoreyko. She was predeceased by her husband Nicholas in December 1968. Mary was a kind and gentle person. She enriched all those lives she touched. Mary was born June 15, 1910 in Edwand (Bellis), Alberta and spent her early years attending the Manitoba School for the Deaf.

She worked in Edmonton for several years as an accomplished dressmaker and in 1942 she married Nicholas Nowak. Jack was the caring, eldest brother of Mike and his wife Connie, Florence and her husband Bat Vecchio, Josephine and her husband Angelo Demeo, and Violet and her husband Leslie Minifie. He also leaves sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The son of Michael and Maria Amantea, he was born in Fernie, B.C. in 1909. He and his brothers opened their first shoe store in Fernie in 1947.

Later they continued the business in Calgary, operating Amantea Shoes, which was known for its friendly and personal service. A man without malice, Jack enjoyed people and was well-liked and respected for his generosity, kindness and loyalty. He was active in his community and was a member of St. Alphonsus Knights of Columbus No. 4965, the Elks Club and the Calgary Winter Club.

In his later years, Jack remained involved in many activities and took particular pleasure in his grandchildren. Phone: 403-297-0888. 229809 THOMPSON On April 11, 1995, Charles (Charlie) Clifford Thompson, aged 78 years, passed away at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. Charlie Thompson was born at Assiniboia, Sask.

on June 23, 1 91 6 and grew up on a homestead in the Vantage district. He farmed with his mother and four brothers following his father's sudden death when Charlie was two. Charlie loved flying and his interest in flying lead him to training in the Royal Canadian Air Force where he graduated at the top of his class. During World War II Charlie engaged in coastal command work in England. During the ensuing years he owned and flew a variety of small aircraft, becoming a well known figure as he flew mercy flights, trained students to fly and transported people, mail and supplies throughout Saskatchewan.

In the early 1 950's Charlie flew more mercy missions for the Saskatchewan Air Ambulance Service, a government organization which covered emergency medical transport throughout a two hundred and sixty thousand square kilometer sparsely populated territory. In 1 956, Charlie forged a new frontier in aviation by joining the growing force of Canadians employed in the petroleum industry. In 1956 he joined Mobil Oil and was employed for twenty-four years, acting as chief pilot and managing the aviation department for many years. In 1 990 Charlie was admitted to the Wall of Fame in the Weyburn Aviation Museum and was also acknowledged in the Moose Jaw Aviation Museum. In addition to his love for flying, Charlie enjoyed many years of curling and found great pleasure in the company of his family and in sharing his many stories with friends.

Among those mourning his loss are his beloved wife Doris Thompson; son Wayne (Clare) Thompson, Sydney, Australia; daughter Jane Thompson, Calgary; cherished grandchildren, Jennifer McNutt, Stephen, Tammie and Jackie Thompson, all of Calgary; and brother Doug (Pat) Thompson of Assiniboia, Sask. Charlie was predeceased by his parents, Bert and Gertrude, three brothers, Murray (Dorothy), Wilbur (Ollie) and George (Nora) Thompson.
