Besides her loving husband, Mrs. Young is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Les and Anna Maj Young of Armstrong, B.C., Garnet and Jan Young of Priddis, AB; a daughter and son-in-law, Marion and Murray Moffat of Kamloops, B.C.; and four grandchildren, Jody, Kim, Jackie and Janet.

Hugh Maitland and Marilyn; and his grandchildren, Laura (Stephen) Twible and David Brown. Ewart was born in Bruce County, Ontario and came west in 1 91 1 to Carstairs with his father the late Rev. Rex Brown, D.D. The family moved to Calgary in 1917. After graduating with an M.A.

in Languages, Ewart began his teaching career in public schools in Cardston and Taber and later spent many years teaching at SAIT. In his late forties, he returned to the University of Alberta and obtained a law degree. He worked as a solicitor in the city law department until his retirement in 1971. Ewart had a life long interest in languages and was an active member of the Esperanto Club. He was studying German at the University of Heidelberg, Germany in 1 936 when forced to leave during the Nazis reoccupation of the Rhineland.

She is the loving mother of a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Ken Hillman of Edmonton; two grandchildren, Sherry and husband Brian Noble, and Brad and wife Aurel Hillman; and two great-granddaughters, Kayla and Alyssa Noble. Ethel is also survived by two sisters, Mae Gordon of Saskatoon, and Mildred Lubbers of Smithers, B.C. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon Cramer, three brothers, Bill, Ed, and Art, and two sisters, Ella and Elma. Ethel was raised in Saskatchewan. She received her teaching certificate in 1 923 and taught for many years, ending her career at the Millican Ogden School in 1972.

Ethel spent her retirement years with her husband at Shuswap Lake, B.C. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is the loving mother of two children, Igors A. Silgailis of Vancouver, B.C. and Ingus Silgailis of Medicine Hat; and two grandchildren, Stacey and Kyle. Helga is also survived by a brother Edgar Bergs. She was predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth and Alexander Bergs, and her husband Igors V.

Silgailis. Helga was bom in Riga Latvia. After studying Art in Germany, and during the Russian takeover of Latvia in the Second World War, she, along with her husband's family, was required to seek refuge in Canada. During her early years in Canada, Helga worked for Robert Simpson Eastern Ltd. in Halifax and later with the Woodwards chain as a commercial artist in Calgary.

She had been a resident of Calgary since 1957 and lately was active in pursuing and playing Bridge at competitive levels. She will be remembered fondly as a wonderful mother, a woman who was well versed in the change of times, courageous in her convictions, and above all a caring, strong and giving person. Graveside Services were held in the "Garden of Everlasting Life" Courtyard at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, (17 Avenue S.E. at Garden Road), on Monday, February 28, 1 994. A loving mother, she is survived by her husband of fifty years, Fred; children, Bob and Carol Wheatley, Marilyn and Bill Olsen; the grandchildren she adored, Cam, Robin, Jonathan and Deanna Wheatley; as well as one niece and one nephew in Ontario. She was predeceased by her brother Roy and her eldest son William. Veronica loved her friends and the coffee was always on.

RICHARDS Mrs. Dorothy Christine Richards, beloved wife of Mr. Doug Richards of Redwood Meadows, Alberta, passed away at the family residence on February 26, 1 994 at the age of 53 years. Besides her loving husband, Dorothy is survived by two sons, David and Dean; a daughter-in-law Carrissa; and two grandchildren, Brandon and Alandra Richards, all of Calgary.

She is also survived by her parents, Reinhold and Lena Schultz of Moose Jaw, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Terry Krauss of Mazenod, and Evelyn and Paul Ducharme of Saint Victor, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was born and raised in Mazenod, Sask. and was married to Doug Richards in 1961 at Mazenod. They lived in Moose Jaw and Saskatoon prior to the family moving to Redwood Meadows in 1983. Dorothy pursued her artistic dreams in painting and craft work in Redwood Meadows and became involved in the Calgary Art Community.

She greatly enjoyed her family and grandchildren as well as hiking and photography in the mountainous surroundings.
