Calgary Herald FRIDAY March 26, 1993 C12 IN THE HERALD CLASSIFIED PAGES 7 DAYS A WEEK CALL 235-0511 To place an ad call 235-051 1 Aiimoimcemeinilts 051 Deaths TALLIS Mrs. Ivy Alma "Teddy" Tallis of Calgary, Alberta passed away March 25, 1993 in the Central Park Lodge at the age of 91 years. She leaves to mourn her passing, two sons, James Nelson Tallis (Margaret) of Ladysmith, B.C. and Patrick John Tallis (Inez) of Calgary; three grandchildren, Glen Tallis of Calgary, Sharon Irene LaClare (Howard) of Calgary, and Carol Inez Walker (Rob) of Kamloops, B.Cj and three great-grandchildren, Elexis and Nicole Walker and Meagan LaClare. Ivy was predeceased by her husband Joe (1978) and two brothers, Tony Ryan of Saskatoon and Jack Ryan of London, England.

Ivy Alma Ryan was born January 15, 1902 in London, England. In 1926 she came to Canada and two years' later married H.V. "Joe" Tallis of Borden, Saskatchewan. They lived and farmed in the Halcyonia District, northeast of Borden until 1943 when they moved to Victoria, B.C. At the end of World War II they returned to the prairies where they took up residence in the resort village of Meota, Saskatchewan where they had a boat building and rental business for twenty-three years.

In 1966 they moved to Calgary to join their sons and to spend their twilight years. Ivy was known for her love of music and her excellent voice. She performed on stage, in theatre and light opera in England before coming to Canada. Marrying into a musical family, she sang with the church choir and Tallis Orchestra. They performed in many bond rallies and Red Cross Benefits in the late 1930's and early 1940's.

The love and enthusiasm she had for all nature, creatures great and small, is unparalleled and this zest for life rubbed off on all that met her. The tea pot was always on, whether it was at the farm, the lake cottage or in the city. Her warmth touched us all. She will be sadly missed.
