Philip Gardner Dies Suddenly Philip Gardner, veteran lumberman of the Lower Gatineau district, died suddenly at his Ironside. home on Monday, at the age of 84. He had been in vigorous health, and though retired for a few year from active employment, did occasional work with the Canadian International Pap Company as late as the past Summer. Mr. Gardner was a scaler, and had worked fdr- the company from its early days as the Gil-mour-Hughson firm.

His wife, the fortner Mary La-tendrttse, predeceased him nine years ago, as well as two; sons. Richard, who was killed overseas, ond Horace. He is mourned by two sons. Joseph, of Wrightvllle, at present with J. R.

KINBUKN, Dec. 21. (Special.) The annual meeting of the Diamond Cheese and Butter Company was held on Saturday afternoon, at the factory, with a fair attendance, the president. Reeve Stuart Craig, presiding. O.

G. Laughlin, secretary-treasurer, read the financial report, showing a good balance for the season's operations. Dairy Instructor H. W. Cunningham, of Arnprior, gave an address.

The total number of pounds of milk received at the factory was 1.766.716; cheese manufactured. pounds, for which was received $21,400.19. The average price of butter-fat for the season was 30.97, and the average selling price for cheese was 13.23. Average test for season, 3 4, and the average milk to make one pound of cheese was 10 92 pounds. Butter manufactured, 4,296 pounds.

S. E. Baird presided for election of officers, which resulted as follows: President, Reeve Craig; secretary treasurer and salesman. Oliver Laughlin; directors, Clif-! ford M. Findlay, Lester Laugh- lin, Lome Craig.

(Special) Less than 24 hours after her sister's death, Mrs. William Dickson, highly respected resident of this town, died st her home Sunday in her 8pth year. Her only sister, Mrs. Daniel McLeese died at her home on Goiver Line. Wcstmeath Township, late Saturday night.

Mrs. Dickson was born in Beachburg. a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Davidson.

She resided in Stafford Township for many years following her marriage to William Dickson, who predeceased her by 14 years. She war a member of Calvin United Church. Surviving are Ave daughters, Mrs. William Foster. Toronto Mrs.

H. Coburn, Pembroke; Mrs. Robert Goudie, Pembroke Town ship; Muses Martha and Annie, at home; one brother, William Davidson. Beachburg. One ton.
