Ret'd, D.S.O., died suddenly on vacation in Guaymas, Mexico on March 1, 1989 aged 77. He was a career soldier with the Canadian Army, (1929 -1965), attended R.M.C., served with the Royal Canadian Artillery, World War II Veteran, commanded Calgary Garrison (1955 1959), Alberta area Edmonton (1959 1962) and Eastern Ontario area -Kingston (1962 1965).

He is survived by his beloved wife Donalda; four children, Barbara Bramsen of Calgary, Graeme of Kingston, Dr. Mary-Stewart of Winnipeg and Cameron of Aurora; also twelve grandchildren and his sister Gwen Graham of Ottawa. THOMSON Donald Alexander Thomson, born March 6, 1911 in his lifelong home of Black Diamond, passed away at the Holy Cross Hospital February 28, 1989, of heart failure. He was predeceased by his brothers, Harold, Shirley, Gordon and Roy and by his sister Lillian. Left in mourning are his wife Leone; daughter Donna and husband Einar Brasso, their children, Celia, Kristen and Alison; daughter Marian and husband Alan Manning, their children Tom, Colynne, Alanna and Jessica; brothers. Art, Harry, Ken, Ralph, sister Florence and their families. Don ranched on the Sheep River all his life and was president of the Sheep Creek Stock Growers Association for thirty years.

Actively involved in rodeo, Don competed successfully throughout North America in the '30's and '40's and was named the North American Ail-Round Champion in 1937. Don supplied roping calves to the Calgary Stampede for thirty-five years and judged rodeo events for a number of years after retiring from competition. He has since been honored at the Calgary Stampede as a Pioneer of Rodeo and was inducted into the Canadian Rodeo Hall of Fame in 1985. Don was gifted with a good eye for horses, cattle and people and so had exceptional livestock and wonderful friends. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and by his many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, High River, on Saturday, March 4 at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Grant Dillenbeck officiating. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Oilfields Hospital, Black Diamond.

He is survived bv two daughters and one son-in-law, Marlene and Jim Schmidt and Robin Welsh, all of Calgary.

He is also survived by two grandchildren, Gail and Steven and by one brother and two sisters-in-law, David and Jenny Welsh of Hillcrest and Agnes Welsh of Hillcrest. Mr. Welsh was predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 1972 and by two brothers and one sister. Donna Ida Cantley (Banfalvi), beloved wife of Mr. Charlie Banfalvi, of Calgary, passed away at home on March 1, 1989 at the age of 56 years. Besides her loving husband, Donna is survived bv one son Pobin Cantley of Calgary; one daughter Ida Cantley of Calgary; her Aunt Florence Duncan and cousin Rhonda Duncan, both of Edmonton. She was predeceased by her parents. Donna was born in Calgary on July 4, 1932 and has resided here all of her life.

Alberta, passed away in Beiseker on February 28, 1989 at the age of 67 years. Besides her loving husband, Mrs. Elliott is survived by one brother Alex and his wife Helen Thurber; one sister Bertina Vainio; a niece Mary Thurber, all of Edmonton and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Jeanne Thurber. Louise was born and raised in Calgary, attending St.

Joyce Gale, beloved wife of Mr. Fredric Gale of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Beverly Nursing Home on March 2, 1989. GAVAN Mary Emily aged 73 years of Calgary, passed away March 2, 1989 at the Holy Cross Hospital, widow of the late Henry George Gavan who predeceased her on September 6, 1982. She is the beloved mother and mother-in-law of Judy Gavan of Calgary, Cheryl and Bill Slater of Calgary, Mike and Deb Gavan of Calgary, Barry and Bev Gavan of Nampa, Alberta, Brian and Norma Gavan of Calgary, Tim and Jackie Gavan of Brampton, Ontario. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, one sister Mrs. Lois Rowley of London, Ontario, numerous nieces and nephews. It was Mrs.

Gordon, son and daughter-in-law, Heinz-Juergen and Denise Neumann, daughter and step-son, Angelika and Neil Gordon, daughter and son-in-law. Barbel and Ulf Petersen and precious granddaughter, Alexandra Petra Petersen. Also survived by dear sister Annie Taylor and nephew Robert Taylor in England, two sisters, Olga Gabler and Marie Malinic and numerous nieces and nephews in Germany. Predeceased by her parents, Adolf and Marie Jeske, brother Emil Jeske, two sisters, Kate and Lydia Jeske and by her first husband Heinz K.J. Kudelka on January 13, 1975.

Renate will always be loved and missed by her many friends. She was a fun loving and outgoing lady. Renate had a strong faith in her Lord and was a long time member of Foothills Lutheran Church. She was a creative person and was actively involved with the German Canadian Ladies Choir for many years, also Renate was a member of the Country Crossing Artisian Co-op in Bragg Creek. She was involved in various volunteer works over the years.

Renate fought a courageous battle with cancer and always had a positive outlook. She and her family appreciated all the care given at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and Foothills Hospital. Special appreciation to Dr. R. Ziegler, Dr.

HOEY Miss Mariorie E. Hoey passed away in Calgary peacefully at the Glen-more Auxiliary Hospital on March 2, 1989. Born in Saskatoon, she attended public, high and Normal school and the University of Saskatchewan and University of British Columbia, graduating with distinction in each. She taught school in Saskatchewan at Perdue, Leask, Conquest and Kinderslev. In 1943 she left teaching to take a position as Selective Service officer and later head of the Executive and Professional Women's Division of the Unemployment Insurance Commission in Saskatoon.

In 1950, she returned to teaching and moved to Calgary, where she taught until her retirement. With a University degree in music and other special musical training, her classes won many musical awards in the Musical Festivals in Calgary. She leaves to mourn her a number of cousins both in Calgary and Saskatchewan. Predeceasing her are her parents, Mr. Charles B.

Hoey, Mrs. Sarah Hoey and sisters, Mrs. Sarah Hood and Mr. and Mrs. John Dingwall.

All are buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery family plot where Mariorie will complete the family circle. "Sunset and evening star. And one clear call for me. MacDonald of Calgary passed away at the Mayfair Nursing Home on February 27, 1989 at the age of 90 years.
