Cecil Jackson and family have moved on a farm after selling their home in La Harpe to Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Parks, who have moved into their new home in La Harpe. Tuesday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs.

Arthur Jackson were Mr. Jacksons sister, Mrs, Mer-vis Scott and Mr. Scott of Moran. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs.

Clarence Isaac were their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Isaac and Susie, Larry Jr. and Everett. Mrs.

Helen Link and daughters Donna and Debra of Yates Center were guests of Mrs. Links mother, Mrs. Tal Sherwood Saturday. Tuesday evening guests of Mrs. Tal Sherood were Mr.

and Fred Sherwood and children, Johny and Carol of Yates Center. La Harpe and community had a real snow storm Wednesday, making a snowwhite blanket over everything. Raymond Perkins of Samoset, and Mr. and Mrs. John Rawlings of Harwood, Mo. The Veterans pf World War I and the Auxiliary met for the February meeting at the Legion Hall for a covered dish dinner which was enjoyed by all. During the following meetings the auxiliary installed the new officers who were present.

Mary Houk, president; Beula Ferguson, treasurer; and Grace Myers, secretary. The business meetings were shortened so that Freeda Hudson could show the remainder of her travel pictures whicfc were beautiful. The next meeting will be March 19, with a covered dish supper at 6:30 p.m. at the Legion Hall. Veterans friends and interested persons are invited.

Morion Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, met Tuesday night with Worthy Matron Joan Morrison and Worthy Patron Orval Morrison presiding. The initia tory degree was held for candi date Donald Welch. His mother, Mrs. Lloyd Welch and his father-in-law, Fred Ensminger, presided in the East. There were visitors from Toronto, Hi-atville, Bronson, La Harpe and Iola.

Refreshments of cup cakes and coffee were served in the dining room from tables decorated in the Easter theme. (Mrs. Mary Smith) COLONY Mrs. Lillian Denney has returned from her trip to Florida and is smiling and looking fine. The chicken noodle supper by the senior high school class Tuesday evening was a decided success.

They had a big attendance. It doesnt seem possible those little kids four years ago are now grown up and ready to go out in the world. Yesterday we had a tiice snow storm. The wind was cold and people staying out of the weather. This morning before dawn the birds were singing.

When the sun came up the clouds were gone and it is a beautiful day with the snow melting. Last week Mrs. Gene Farris went to Augusta and took her mother, Mrs. Fowler, to Emporia to have a cataract removed from her eye. She had one removed a year ago and doing fine and nqw has the other one off.

Mrs. Farris brought her mother home with her for a few days. Mrs. Betty Haetten was honored with a lovely stork show; er at the home of Mrs. Mary Clemans.

The table decorations were centered around a cherub on a cloud of diapers in a tiny basket. This was atop a white lerrymound decorated with pink rosebuds and small bright pink and blue diapers. Pastel colored streamers were held aloft by tiny piers and draped canopy style over the basket. Many lovely gifts were received by the guest of honor. Refreshments of coffee and cake hand decorated with tiny pink and yellow rose buds by Marilyn Nt-uqns wander were served to 22 guests; Mrs.

Dorothy Mrs. Marjorie Booher and Nancy, Mrs. Virginia Weatherman, Mrs. Judy Belisle, Miss Margaret Hagel, Mrs. Vera Comstock, Mrs.

Kathy Wilmoth, Mrs. Helen Kimsey, Mrs. Mary Kay Schooler and Pam, Mrs. Maxine Mangold, Mrs. Sarah Ruth Barron, Mrs.

Lyndon Redfern of Kansas City, a former resident of Iola, underwent major surgery yesterday at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Kansas City. He was reported as getting along satisfactorily at this time. His room number is 713. Mr. and Mrs.

Roland Kinzle have named their baby daughter Debrah Annette. She was born Feb. 25, the wedding, anniversary of her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nelson.

The paternal grandparents are Mr. and, Mrs. Kenneth Kinzle. This will announce that Mitchell H. Bushey will re-open his office for tile practice of law at 120 E.

Jackson Street, Iola. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sigg of Olathe announce the birth of a 6-pound, 15-ounce son March 3, whom they have named John Carl. Mr.

Sigg is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Sigg of Iola.

Baker at the KU Medical Center Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Walter Cushing of Kincaid and Mrs. Logan Frame of Iola accompanied her. Mrs.

Frames brother, Charles McCoy of Kansas City is also a patient at the Medical Center and is very ill due to a heart attack. Mr. McCoy is a former resident of this community. Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs.

Roy Dennis were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Lind and Sheila and Mr. and Mrs. Alden Dennis, Vicki, Terri and Rickey.

Linley Hills underwent major surgery Wednesday at Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott. His condition is satisfactory. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hudson of Silver Lake spent Saturday night with Mrs.

Hudsons grandmother, Mrs. Edith Hurley. On Sunday they all spent the day with Mrs. Hudsons parentff Mr. and Mrs.

John Hurley and family at Galena. Roger Hurley, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hurley has enlisted in the U. S.

Air Force and left Tuesday for Texas for basic training. Gene Drybread of Chanute was a guest of honor at a dinner in celebration of his 21st birthday Sunday evening at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T. G.

Drybread in Garnett. His brother, Charles Dry-bread, who is in the U. S. Coast Guards anch stationed at Cape May, N. called for a visit on the telephone.

Other dinner guests included Genes parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Drybread and his brothers, Terry and Darrell and Miss Connie Jack-man of Moran, Miss Roberta Hobart and Miss Ann Harris of Topeka andMiss Charlotte Baker of Humboldt. Mr. and Mrs.
