ft A v- Washington (News i Bureau) The Supreme Court, opening the way to clarifying a controversial freedom of the press ruling last July, agreed yesterday to hear a case questioning whether press and public may be barred from a criminal trial. Some of the justices have complained hi recent weeks about misinterpretation of their July decision. The new case involves an appeal by two Richmond. Va-. newspapers whose reporters were -barred from a murder trial in 1978.

This case could give the justices the opportunity to clear up the confusion caused by their split decision in July on the Gannett Newspapers case.
