LaRue Yost, 87, McEwensville McEWENSVILLE L. LaRue Yost, 87, of McEwensville, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at the home of his son, on Broadway Street, Turbotville. He had been in ill health. He was born May 12, 1913, in Delaware Township, Northumberland Coimty, a son of the late service at 11 a.m.

Monday at Christ's Lutheran Church. 100 S. Third Lewisburg, followed by fellowship. Committal service at 2 p.m. Monday in Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport.

28,1933, in Lewisburg to Ronald Alvin Alma E. Reed Reed, who died April 5, 1973. She attended Red Bank School, RR2 Mifflinburg. Earlier in life she was employed by Huntingdon Throwing Mill, Mifflinburg, and the Quaker Manufacturing Company, Lewisburg. She also did house-cleaning in the Lewisburg area for private residents.

Mrs. Reed enjoyed gardening, and planting flowers; having and attending yard sales; doing puzzle books; and swinging on her outdoor swing. She also enjoyed the company of her cat, Ginger. Mrs. Reed was a member of Hillside Bible Church, RR2 Mifflinburg.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Warren A. and Judith N. Reed of RR2 Mifflinburg, and James C. and Marcia A. Reed of RR4 Mifflinburg; three grandchildren, Rhonda L.

Reed of Gainesville, Douglas W. Reed of Hartleton, and Jay A. Reed of Port Trevorton; by one great-grandson, Dakota D. Reed of Hartleton; two great-stepgrandchildren, Cody Travis Beaver of Winfield, and Hunter Maye Smith of Port Trevorton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sarah A. and Paul O.

Bowersox of RR5 Mifflinburg, and Evelyn L. and Paul W. Sampsell of Mifflinburg; and one brother and sister-in-law, Ernest L. and Rosella H. Hoffman of RR4 Mifflinburg.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Adaline Reed in 1943, and two brothers, Charles Daniel Hoffman killed in action in 1944 in World War II, and Kenneth William Hoffman who died in 1952. Visitors will be received at 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at James L. Schwartz Home for Funerals, 247 Chestnut Mifflinburg.

The funeral service will be conducted, at p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home by her pastor, the Rev. Ned L. Knisely. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, New Columbia, White Deer Township.

4, 2000, at Sunbury Community Hospital, Northumberland County. He was born May 13, 1922, in Herndon, Northumberland County, a son of the late Jacob and Jennie (Wiest) Maurer. He was married to Gladys Leitzel. He was a 1941 graduate of Herndon High School. Mr.

Maurer served in the Navy during World War II. He was employed as a salesman for Big Boys Auto Parts Sunbury, before his retirement. Mr. Maurer was a member of Herndon Rod and Gun Club, and an honorary member of the Americus Hose Company, Sunbury. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 1532, the Ancient Accepted Order of the Scottish Rite of Williamsport, Union County Sportsmans Club.

Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Sunbury Forest No. 65. and Masonic Lodge No. 72 of Sunbury. Mr.

Maurer was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Sunbury. Surviving, in addition to his wife are, two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Suzanne Keen of Harrisburg. and Garry and Bonita Maurer of Arlington, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Dolores and Lorenzo Tironi of Middletown. N.Y.; one brother. Clarence Maurer of Coatsville; two sisters, Jennie Troxel of Rome, N.Y., and Alverta Paul of Lykens; two granddaughters, Michele Fortin of Middletown, N.

and Gretchin Santamerie of Harrisburg: four grandsons. Michael Tironi of Middletown. N.Y'.. Mark Tironi. of Middletown.

She was born Aug. 22, 1914, in Shamokin, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Fortune) Beany. She married EUwood R. Schreffler Aug. 10,1932.

i--She graduated from Coal Township High School in 1932. and her husband 'Jermerly owned and operated the furve Inn, RR2 Northumberland. "She later served as an officer for ijjchreffler Pontiac, Buick, Cadillac Sunbury. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, and crocheting, She was a member of the Order jf the Eastern Star and the White Shrine, both of Northumberland. Mrs.

Schreffler was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury. Surviving, in addition to her hus-jband are one daughter, Judy A. of Sunbury; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and lone nephew. She was preceded in death by one ion, James; one brother, Edward; and one sister, Ellen Kline. I The funeral services were private.

ICatharine S. DeBlaker, 92, of West Asheville, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2000. I She was born in Shamokin, a of the late Joseph and "Sarah Jane (Markle) Sockoloskie. She married John Wesley DeBlaker, who died in 1974.

Mrs. DeBlaker taught kindergarten at Immaculata School, where she lived 'from 1950 until moving to Asheville in 1958. She then taught at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School, Asheville. Mrs.

DeBlaker also worked at Vanderbilt Day Care and in millinery department of Ivey's Department Store. She was a volunteer with ABCCM and St. Joseph Hospital and was a member of Catholic Daughters of America. Mrs. DeBlaker was an active member of St.

Joan of Arc Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society. Surviving, are three daughters, Kathleen Simpson of Sunbury. Evelyn Pinto of Tampa, and Mary Carol Morrison of Asheville; two sons, John W. "Jack" DeBlaker Jr. of Saratoga, and Joseph DeBlaker of Honea Path.

S.C.; four sisters. Helene McPhelin of Philadelphia, Sister Mary Therese of Immaculata, Mary Concannon of Philadelphia, and Winifred Bluestein of Florida; 20 grandchildren: 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A prayer service is scheduled for o'clock tonight in Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. John M. Pagel.

63, of RR1 Turbotville, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000, at her home. She was born Sept. 30, 1937, in Beaver Springs, a daughter of Allen S. and Belva E.

(Ocker) Fleming. She and her husband celebrated 44 years of marriage April 21. She was a 1955 graduate of Danville High School. A homemaker, Mrs. Bieber was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother who avidly enjoyed reading.

She was a former member of Turbotville Lioness Club and volunteered for the annual cancer drive for the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Bieber was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Turbotville, and a former member of Buffalo Valley Church of the Brethren, RR Mifflinburg. Surviving, in addition to her husband and her mother of Danville are two sons and daughters-in-law, H.

Randal and Sharon Bieber of Winterville, N.C, and Jeffrey S. and Carolyn Bieber of RR1 Turbotville; three daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia J. Bieber of Washingtonville, Sandra J. and Eugene Mullay of Swoyersville, and Pamela S. Lenig of Watsontown; five grandchildren, Evan Tessa Blyssalyn Zachary and Chelsea A.

Bieber; two brothers, Kenneth Fleming of Winfield, and Joseph Fleming of Pfasfftown, N.C; and one sister, Nancy Baylor of Sunbury. She was preceded in death by her father in 1970, one son, William A. on May 20. 1976, and one grandson. Joshua Ryan Lenig on Feb.

He married Ethel a 1 i Schuck, who died Oct. 9, 1981, following 48 years of marriage. LaRue Yost Mr. Yost was a veteran of the army. He was a past commander and member of the Clyde F.

Maurer American Legion Post 323, Watsontown. After 38 years of employment, Mr. Yost retired in 1978 from the former Philco-Ford Zenith Watsontown, where he received the Town Crier Bell Citizen of the Year Award in 1972. Earlier in life, he worked with his father in the operation of C. G.

Yost Trucking, and also drove for the QPA during the 1930s and 1940s. He was a life member of the B.P.O.E. 913 and the Loyal Order of the Moose 171, both of Milton, and the McEwensville Volunteer Fire Company. Mr. Yost was a 50-year member of the Free and Accepted Masonic Lodge 401, Watsontown, and a member of the Warrior Run Royal Arch Chapter 246, and the Williamsport Consistory.

The mayor of McEwensville from 1963 to 1972, he was also past president of the borough council. He was a member of the Friends of the Montgomery House Library, McEwensville, the Turbotville Lions Club and a charter member of the Fort Freeland Heritage Society. Mr. Yost was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, McEwensville, and served on the consistory board of the church.

Surviving, in addition to his son and daughter-in-law, C. James and Glenda Yost, with whom he was residing, are one daughter and son- in-law. Patricia K. and Peter A. Cooper of Danville; one brother, William Yost of Milton; three sisters.

Helen Bortz of Florida, Katherine Derr of RR Milton; and Virginia Calenberger of Hughesville; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Lavine Franklin Yost, who died at birth; two brothers, Eli and Stanley LeRoy Yost, and one sister, MaryEllen Yost. Personnel from Trevorton, East Cameron Township and Coal Township fire companies were at the fire, at a home on Route 125, an emergency services official said. The fire was reported just before 8:30 p.m., the official said.

In addition to those at the scene, firefighters from Sunbury were transferred to Trevorton during the fire. Bucknell to hold election event LEWISBURG The Bucknell University Political Science Department is sponsoring "Bucknell Election Central" Tuesday from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. to watch election returns.
