Record Corn Crop Hikes Farm Output To Ail-Time High By GAYLOftD P. GODWIN WASHINGTON (UM)-A, record corn crop b66Sted the total American farfn crop production for i960 to an aHmme high The Agriculture, Department's November crop report last week estimated the i9dd corn crop at whopping 4,378,724.000 bushels. This was 3 per cent more than the forecast in October, slightly higher than the previous record of 4 361,170,000 bushels in 1080, and 34 per cent above the 10 -year' average, The department, indicated the total farm crop this year would be 12 per cent of the base period. This would be up 1 point from the October estimate and 4 points above the previous record outputs of 1958 and 1959. Both the 1959 ajirf 1960 record erops were grown: under an unlimited acreage atid lower price support program by Agriculture 'Secretary Ezra t.

Benson, who that farmers, given fredom to plant as they faced with lower government supports- would adjust production of corn downward. Instead, corn production rose. Aiding the corn crop mightily In pushing total crop production to a new record were sorghum grain, rice, peanuts, tobacco, and! oYv beans. Late season gains for these crops than offset, slight to moderate reductions inj eotton, soybeans, and sugar Favorable weather in October accounted for the estimated crop gains. The composite yield-per- acre index covering 21 leading crop rose to 141, exceeded only by the 143 reached in 1958.

Corn and the other crops in the big push achieved record high yields. Soybean production was estimated at 560 million bushels, second highest on record. 4 per cent more than 1959, and 55 per cent above average. Sorghum grain production was expected to reach a record 613 million bushels, up 7 per cent from 1959 and more than 1 1-3 times the average. Other production estimates showed rice up 2 per cent from last year, fall potatoes up 4 per cent, cranberries up 9 per cent, and milk up one per cent.

The department estimated the 1960-61 citrus crop to be 3 per cent smaller than last year, although 5 per cent above average. The department estimated the farm labor- force at 8.3 million during the survey week of Oct. 23-29, about 4 per cent below a year earlier. Farm family workers were estimated at 6 million, 3 per cent less than in October, 1959. Hired hands were estimated at 2.3 million, almost 6 per cent less than a yeai earlier.

Compared with the September peak of farm employment, total workers were down about 9 per cent, family workers down 5 per cent, and hired hands down 18 per cent. The department said the hired worker decline between the September and October survey weeks was slightly sharper than usual. Migratory Labor Group Is Created AUGUSTA, Ga. (UPI) President Eisenhower today formally established the President's Committee on Migratory Labor to co- prdinate federal programs to benefit low -paid migrant farm workers. He said he took the action so the committee, in existence on an informal basis since 1954, could make "ever greater progress toward the achievement of its ob- 'ectives." Eisenhower issued an executive "order naming Secretary of Labor James P. Mitchell as chairman the group. The secretaries pf agriculture, interior and health- education-welfare and the housing administrator also were appointed the committee.

The President said it would be the national interest to increa.se the earnings and living standards of migrants to make them "more compatible" with those of other workers. One official said officers can vassed the area Tuesday, talking to everbody available in hopes of getting clues to the abduction Sunday night. The victim was forced into a car as she walked home from a movie with her 5-year-old sister, Sherrill. The younger girl sounded the alarm, running to a neighbor's home sobbing that a man in a "big car" grabbed her sister. The victim's body was found by two raccoon hunters about hours later in a wooded area near here.

The girl had been assaulted and shot in the face. One official a "list of possible suspects" was compiled by Paulding County Sheriff John Kee- Icr, Paulding village police and Ohio Highway Patrol investigators. These persons, the spokesman said, would be checked out as to their whereabouts Sunday night. Opinion concerning the killer was divided somewhat with some persons believing it possible the crime was committed by a local man. Others wpndered if it were possible the crime was committed by a crazed man, traveling country.

Those who subscribed to the lat ter theory cited the similarities between the slaying of the teen ager here and the assault-slaying Saturday of 9 -year-old Gloria Ko walewicz in Chicago. In each case, the victim was assaulted, shot in the head and the body left in a wooded area with no attempt to conceal it. Chicago is about 250 miles northwest of this Ohio-Indiana border village of 2,300 persons. Artkujr AM 1327 A team of physicians aided by dental experts studied X-rays to determine how best to avoid any extractions which might subtly alter the shape of the lovely mouth of the world's highest paid feminine film star. Sources at the London clinic where Miss Taylor was reported resting "fairly comfortably" this morning, although still being given pain-killing drugs, said doctors were hopeful that if they could not avoid extractions completely they might have to pull only one tooth.

However, if the infection is unusually resistant or widespread it might be necessary to extract more. In this case the most skillful dentistry would be needed to maintain the fabulously photogenic face exactly as it is especially since today's giant-sized screens exaggerate even the slightest imperfection. Tuesday, night her doctors said Miss Taylor's illness had been diagnosed as meningism a condition brought on by a virus which the doctors blamed on infected teeth. She was rushed to the hospital Sunday night with severe head pains. Her husband, singer Eddie Fisher, who has stayed by her bedside almost constantly, said he was "greatly -relieved" by the diagnosis, "It's not as bad as I feared," hi said- "But the poor girl has been suffering terribly."
