Boyertown CARL t. BENFItLD, 129 North Walnut Street HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1940 HOLDS 18TH YEAR REUNION The 18th year reunion of the class of 1940 of Boyertown High school was held at the Boyertown Orioles home. Harry I. Gilbert, Boyertown Area Senior High school principal, was guest speaker. He spoke about the teachers who were in the school system in 1940, told of their whereabouts today and recalled memorable events in the school life of the class.

The hall was decorated with blue and gold ers, the class colors. White carnations, the class flower, and greens were at the entrances on trellises, Blue candles and floral centerpieces were on the tables. Two white candles were burned in memory of departed classmates, Ernest Bittenbender and Eugene Clouser. THE CLASS decided to hold another reunion in 1960. Members of the class reported a total of 201 children.

Before the meal William Stubanus led the group in prayer. The following prices were awarded: Traveled the greatest distance, Robert Park, Sallisaw, most children, Gerald Wasson and Kenneth Romich; youngest child, 7 weeks old, Kenneth Romich; most recently married, Mrs. James Devlin (Betty Reichert); least hair, Moyer; grayest hair, Mrs. Paul Weller (Jeannette Schock); married the longest, Willard Kline (Pauline Leister); longest hair, Mrs. Paul Merkel (Grace Moyer); bachelors, Howard Weiss, Linwood Shirey and Karl Leckner, and single ladies, Mildred Bahr, Catherine Rohrbach and Anna Naigle.
