Besides his loving wife Eva, Mr. Heffner is survived by one son Ronald and daughter-in-law Melody and grand-daughters Tammy and Tawnya of Lacombe, Alberta. Also surviving are five sisters and two brothers and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Heffner served in the armed forces with the Royal Canadian Ordinance Corps from 1942 to 1966.

Following his retirement from the armed forces, he was employed at the Calgary Baker Centre for 14 years, retiring in the summer of 1982. Funeral services will be held at the Calgary Crematorium Chapel 3219 4 St. N.W. (within Queen's Park Cemetery) on Wednesday, May 23, at 2:00 p.m. with Father Denis Fleming officiating.

Florists 027 FORSTMEYER May 18, 1984, Edwin Albert, of 9840 7 St. S.E., passed away suddenly at the Calgary General Hospital, at the age of 71 years. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean; two daughters, Lawanda Stebbing and Sandra Hutchinson of Calgary and two sisters, Alice Shankles and Martha Huyck of Texas. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Bobby and his two sons, Sonny and Rodney. Mr.

Alice (Bensen) Frost, beloved second wife of W.E. (Ern) Frost of Calgary, passed away at the Colonel Belcher Hospital on May 16, 1984. Besides her loving husband, Mrs. Frost is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Bernice and Paul Muir of Toronto and one sister, Jean Smith of Winnipeg; stepson, Ken Frost and family of Blackfalds, Alberta; stepdaughter, Marilyn Woods and family of Edmonton; numerous grand and great- grandchildren and a brother-in-law, Don Frost, Calgary. Dearly loved by all who knew her, she leaves behind many beautiful memories, love and devotion.

George Ira Drummond passed away sudden on Friday, May 18, 1984 at the age of 59 years. He was born in Bashaw, Alberta on January 19, 1925. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rose Lena and loving family; Maureen (and Nick) Often, Winnipeg, Alan (and Bonita), Calgary, Leslie (and Derrick Smith), Calgary, grandchildren Darryl and Anilise Often and brothers and sisters, Gladys Cowen, New Norway, Alta; Margaret Pohl, Chiliwack, B.C.; Alex, Tyne Valley, P.E.I.) Edward, Winnipeg, and John, Calgary, and many nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his mother Alice (1961), his father Thomas (1976) and brother Willard (1982). He served as a signalman in the Canadian army from 1943-46 in the South Pacific.

George was an internationally renowned and respected biochemist-pharmacologist who had received his B.Sc. (1949) and M.Sc. (1951) degrees in Pharmacy from the University of Alberta. He received his PhD. in Biochemistry (1955) from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wise, U.S.A.

and completed his post-doctoral fellowship in 1957 at the University of Western Reserve, Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A. In 1957 he ioined the Dept. of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver where he served until 1974. In 1974 he ioined the University of Calgary faculty as a full professor, Division of Biochemistry and Department of Chemistry and the Department of Medical Biochemistry in the Faculty of Medicine which he served to the time of his death. He has served on many editorial boards, scientific advisory boards and bodies, and organizing committees for international symposia.

His contributions to scientific literature include editorship of the iournal Molecular Pharmacology, 1974-77, after which time he became an associate editor. At the time of his death he was serving on the editorial boards of numerous scientific publications including cyclic Nucleotide Research, the Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, Circulation Research, Molecular Pharmacology, Pharmacology, Advances in Cyclic Nucleotide Research, the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics and he also served on the board of Publication Trustees. He was the recipient of many awards for distinguished service to the medical community; He received the Alberta Achievement Award in pharmacology and biochemistry (excellence category) in 1980, the Killam Memorial Professorship in 1976 and 1981 and the Upiohn Award of the Canadian Society of Pliprmacolo-gy and Therapeutics in 1984 in recognition of outstanding contributions to his field. At the time of his death he was serving as the Chairman of the University of Calgary Biochemistry Group since its inception in 1982, the Chairman of the Cell Regulation Research Group since its inception in 1983, a member of the Research Committee of the Alberta and Canadian Heart Foundation, a trustee of the Gairdner Award, and was a founding member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research. George has made many significant contributions to the body of biochemical, medical, and pharmacological knowledge through his research, books, and administrative skills.

George will be sadly missed but not forgotten by his many collegues in Canada as well as other countries, and especially by his loving family. May God grant him eternal peace in love. Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services at the GARDEN CHAPEL, 540- 16Ave. N.W. at 1 p.m.

In Memoriam 037 STEPHENS May 18, 1984, Sammy Bradley Stephens, aged 23 years, beloved husband of Sharon and dear father of Trissa and Tony, all of AAorley, Alta. Sammy is also survived by his beloved parents Sam and Annie Ear, a brother Dion, four sisters; Loretta, Sophia, Janet and Natisha, a maternal grandmother Mrs. Bella Stephens, parental grandparents; Moses and Christine Ear, all of Morlev, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Born at Calgary, he had resided in Morley all his life. He was employed in the ranching business.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Laura in 1970, a sister Clara, and one son Brent in 1967. He is survived by his son Bob and wife Marv of Coleman, eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

He was born in Bavden, Ontario on November 5, 1884 and came west in 1902 settling in Calgary, where he worked as a carpenter. In 1928 he moved to the Peace River Country to homestead with his family. While serving as county councillor, he was instrumental in attracting the first doctor to the town of Hythe. After his retirement in 1967, he returned to Calgary where he resided until his death.
