Born in Millville, April 2, 1997, she was the daughter of the late Isaac H. and Catherine (Lehman) Whitman. She was the last of her immediate family. She was retired from Engle's Ice Cream plant and Lebo's Bakery. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Belleville, by the Rev. Barbara Holzhauser.

Sarah Vaughan remembered by colleagues By Jeff Wilson Associated Press writer LOS ANGELES Sarah Vaughan was remembered by the music industry and friends as a singer's singer whose powerful range and mastery of scat-style jazz earned her acclaim as "The Divine One" or simply "Sassy." Vaughan died of lung cancer Tuesday night at her home in the Hidden Hills area of the San Fernando Valley.

She was 66. "Sarah Vaughan was a complete vocalist and musician," Frank Sinatra said Wednesday. "She was an instrument and she had an incredible sense of humor. Put those attributes together and we're talking about one of the finest vocalists in the history of pop music." She was born Dec. 6, 1902, in Union County, near Forest Hill, a daughter of the late John A. and Agnes (Diehl) Miller. She was employed by' Philco Ford Watsontown, before retiring in 1968. Mrs.

Rhone was a member of Watsontown United Methodist Church and American Legion Post Auxiliary, Watsontown. Sne enjoyed quilting. She is survived by two daughters, Janet Kepner of Terrell and Arlene Shirk of Milton RD1 one son, William Moll of Sanford, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one brother, William Miller of She was preceded in death by her husband Walter G.
