E. MORRIS, Clerk, Township of Nepean, John (Jock) Killed by Train Well Known in City John (Jock) Gordon, of Sault. Ste. Marie, former. well known Ottawa resident and stone-cutter, was killed on May 30 in a train accident Sault Ste.

Marie, it was learned here last night. He was 56 years of age. Mr. Gordon, who left Ottawa last October, was employed by the Department of Labor as a guard with the Labor Projects Prisoners-of-War Branch. He was reported to have been trapped on a bridge on the Algoma Central and Hudson's Bay Railway while guarding a group of Italian prisoners who were doing construction work.

Mr. Gordon was sitting in the middle of the tracks on the which is near Michipicoten camp, and apparently did not hear the approaching train until it. was too late. He tried to reach the end of the bridge but was overtaken and struck by the train. He died a few hours later in hospital at Sault Ste.

Marie. Born in Scotland, Mr. Gordon came to Canada. in 1910. veteran of World War, he served three in France with the R.C.H.A.

He enlisted in that regiment at Kingston. He was employed by the British government for a few years at Washington and returned to Ottawa where he accepted a position with the Labor Department last October. A stone cutter by trade he was well known' by Ottawa stone cutters and was at one time tary of the Ottawa branch of the Journeymen Stone Cutters Association. Survivors include a brother, James Gordon, of Toronto. Mr.

Gordon was a friend of Mr. and Mrs. R. Whitehead, of Ottawa, with whom he resided for some time. The funeral and burial was held on June 3 at Sault Ste.

Marie. MRS. FLORA S. MURRAY. The funeral service for Mrs.

Flora S. Murray of 95 Hamilton avenue will be conducted this afternoon at two o'clock at the Radmore Stewart Funeral Home by Rev. A. Ian Burnett. Burial will be in Beechwood cemetery.

Mrs. Murray, who died Thursday in hospital, was born 47 years ago in Portessie, Scotland, daughter of John A. Whyte and his wife the late Mary Smith Whyte. For many years she had lived in Ottawa. She is survived by her father, who resides at 687 Albert street, Ottawa; a brother, George S.

Whyte; and three sisters, Mrs. Robert Tubman, Mrs. George Allard, and Mrs. A. Norman, all Ottawa.

SAY ARCHDUCHESS DEAD. LONDON, June 10. The German radio said today! that the Archduchess Maria Josepha of Hapsburg, mother of the late Emperor Karl of Austria, has died in a castle at Lake Starnberg, Bavaria. She was 77. The date of the death was not announced.

Major E. G. Thompson Bereaved of Father STRATFORD, June (CP)-Frederick H. Thompson, 85, former registrar of the Ontario Supreme Court and prominent in legal circles in this district for many years, died at his home here today after a lengthy illness. He is survived by one son, Major Thompson on of Ottawa, assistant advocate general in the Defence Department.

MRS. A. DUQUETTE. A resident of Ottawa for the past 30 years, Mrs. Alphonsine Duquette, of 290 Booth street, died Friday in the Civic Hospital following a lengthy illness.

She was 75 years of age. Born and educated at St. Joseph Orleans, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Robitaille, she came to Ottawa 30 years ago and resided here since.

She: attended St. Mark's United Church. Her husband, Joseph Duquette, whom she married 51 years ago at Perkin's, died 15 years ago. Survivors include three sons, John and Romeo, of Ottawa, and George, R.C.A., overseas; seven daughters, Mrs. J.

ALBERT FRANCIS HILLMAN. Finaltribute was paid by many friends and relatives at the funeral on Friday of Albert Francis Hillman who died Tuesday in hospital at the age of 75. The cortege proceeded from the late residence, 63 Laurier avenue east, to Sacred Heart Church where the body was met at the door by Rev. L. Sheffer.

Requiem high mass was chanted by. Father Gibault and assisting (in the sanctuary were Father Mervin Campbell, Father Bower and Father Turcotte. Burial took place at Notre Dame cemetery with Father Campbell officiating at the graveside. Numerous floral tributes and spiritual offerings were received from former business associates and friends. 21 Verdict of Accidental Death Returned In Carp Fatality A verdict of accidental death was returned last evening by the coroner's jury at the inquest into the fatality at Carp on Saturday morning June 3: when Mona Etheline McBride, 26, a sergeant in the C.W.A.C. and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. J.

Thomas today was sentenced by Magistrate E. Donald Smith in County Court to one year definite and six months indefinite for theft of a gasoline jigger from the New York Central Railway in nearby Dutton, last May 17. LIVE STOCK WEEKLY Cattle prices advanced 25 to. 50 cents on. Canadian livestock markets this week while calves declined as much as $1 and hogs and lambs held even, the Agriculture Department said today. George Edward Dougall, of Merrickville and Ottawa, died suddenly last evening while fishing. Dr. Dougall, who was fishing along the pier, apparently suffered a heart attack and fell into the water, where his body was found a short time later by other fishermen. He appeared to be his. usual good health and friends learned with deep regret of his sudden passing.

In his 77th year, Dr. Dougall was born at Hallville, son of the late Robert Dougall and his wife, Sarah Shaw. His early life was spent in Ontario, after which he resided in Schenectady, where he practiced dentistry, retiring about 20 years ago. For the past 15 years, Dr. Dougall had lived in Merrickville and Ottawa.

Only last Sunday, he returned to Merrickville from Ottawa to spend the Summer months with his nephew, Fred Dougall, and Mrs. Dougall. One of his favorite pastimes was fishing and much of his time here was spent at the water. Well known and highly esteemed his death is widely I mourned: Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including, Fred Dougall, Merrickville; Donald Dougall, of Sydney, N.S., formerly of Merrickville, and Mrs. Wm.

McTavish, of Ottawa. Dr. Dougall was a devout member of the United Church. The funeral will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs.

Fred Dougall on Saturday afternoon at 2.30 p.m. with the pastor, Rev. R. W. Armstrong conducting the service.

Paul Arial, of 69 Overton street, Eastview, who died in the Civic Hospital last Sunday. The body was sent from Ottawa on Tuesday to Golden Lake where requiem high mass was chanted by Father J. S. F. Flynn, of Eganville.

Burial was made at Golden Lake Roman Catholic cemetery. 'Survivors include her husband, Paul Arial, overseas with the Canadian Army, a baby son; her, parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Lavalley, of Golden Lake; two brothers, Harold, Camp.
