David Lewis, formerly of this place, but now of Scranton was held In the Calvlnistic Methodist church here Monday afternoon, Rev. John Hammond officiating. Mrs. Lewis was for many years a resident of Spring Brook and her loss is mourned by a host of friends. Mrs.

W. E. Griffith is suffering with a severe cold. Miss Margaret ScuTi; who has been ill, is convalescent. Mrs.

Margaret J. Thomas, who has been visiting in New York, 1ias returned home. A sewing circle has been organized among the young ladies. The first meeting was held at the home of Miss Cora Thomas, Saturday afternoon, January 5, and the following officers were elected: President, Miss Salome Da vies; secretary. Miss Kathryn Griffith; treasurer, Miss Cora Thomas.

A delicious supper was served by Mrs. Daniels assisted by Miss Thomas, after which the members were duly initiated into the club, to be known as the B. R. S. Members present were: Misses Martha Richards, Clara Morgan, Cora Thomas, Leah Matthews, Nellie Evans, Kathryn Griffith and Laura Smith.

The next meeting to be held January 20 at Miss Leah Matthews' home. The many friends of William Jenkins were grieved to hear of the death of his mother, Mrs. Jenkins, which occurred in Wilkes Barre, January 6. Morgan Daniel is suffering with a cold and asthma. Morgan Jones, of Scranton, was a visitor in town last week.

Fred Kilmer is suffering from a lame back caused by a fall on the ice. Miss Anna Jones, of Dickson City, spent New Year's with her parents here. Mr. and Mrs. Daniel R.

Mrs. Mallory, of Mathonville, N. visited her daughter, Miss Mallory, Thursday and Friday. W. R.

Merrltt, John Alworth, Ray Smith and H. W. Borth are putting In phones into their homes. The funeral of Miss David Van Bus kirk was held at the home in New Milford, Saturday, with interment in Harford cemetery. Harford high school has a glee club under the dlrectlqnof Miss Mallory.

Wick wire, of Blnghamton, were brought to the Manzer cemetery for burial. The Women Christian Temperance union will meet with Mrs. C. J. Gelatt Friday afternoon, Janauary 12.
