Since then agents have been secretly working in various parts of the country. The ransom money continues to trickle into circulation, but in very small quantities.

So far every person found in possession of any of the money has been able to prove he came by it honestly. In auch cases the federal Investigators take up the ransom bills, to keep them from confusing the search by staying In circulation, but give the holders other money in exchange. Shortly after the Justice department took over the case it was learned they had under arrest, for another crime, a person they believed knew something about the Lindbergh case. B. Arledge, of the Southern Steamship who appeared in the recent senate ocean mail investigation, in which he Informed the company and Arledge that their gifts were being returned. Shipping Bureau Gets Cigars Answering questions of reporters, Mitchell said that apparently "a wagon load of 50 cent cigars" was being distributed to the United States shipping board bureau. "I do not know the Black Diamond corporation and they do not know me. I certainly do not know why they should send me cigars," he added.

"The letter to the steamship corporation said: "I received from yon today box of cigars.
