If this were not true no one would serve sin. Rut by contrast he em-i phasized the great and many ad-j vantages of the pleasures of God. The pleasures of sin were dec la r- id to be of no value, they cost much i but when enjoyed their value ceasos.

They cost too much for what is received, nor will they stand the test. They furnish no comfort or strength in trial, sadness or sorrow. The pleasures of sin are short-lived, at best the thrill is; but for the moment. They always leave a sting behind and will not bear reflection for there is no pleasure in reviewing They do not wear well, the more often they are enjoyed the less enjoyment they give. They are expensive in money cost, in physical powers demanded and in shortening the life.

Compared with these are the pleasures of God. It is true the Christian suffers some here, but all people do, and the Christian has Christ with him and thus the sting of sorrow and trial is removed. Christianity has a great, value for it works. It gives much more than it costs and it will stand every test. Whatever our need is if we give God a chance He will help us in it.

Christian pleasures are eternal for his happiness is Internal, not depending on outward circumstances. They give cheer, courage, happiness and buoyancy. They bear reflection. They increase in joy-giving. Christ becomes more precious, the experience more dear.

They return great value on the investment, treasures are laid Tip in eternity, body is strengthened for the indwelling of the Iloly Spirit, intellect is sharpened to serve God and the will is strengthened to obey God.
