Twelve Deaths in Reading and Berks Reading MRS. FRANK R. MILES, 37, who as a Red Cross case worker the past 10 years won the friendshp and confidence of practically every disabled World War veteran in Reading and Berks county, died last night in the Reading Hospital after an illness of two months. Mrs. Miles, the former Louise Geissler, resided at 104 Windsor was a native of this city, a daughter of Stella (Martin) and the late R.

Frank Geissler, and was a mem ber of the Reformed denomination She had a career of about 16 years in charitable and civic ac tivity, having been connected with the Social Welfare League for about five years before becoming a Red Cross case worker almost 10 years ago. Her Red Cross assignment was to look after disabled World War veterans and their families. She was particularly interested in this work and all the families upon whom she called and helped held her in high esteem. Surviving besides her mother and husband are a sister, Alice, wife of Keely Brunner, and two brothers, Robert and Henry Geissler, all of this city. Funeral on Friday at 2 p.

Interment in Charles Evans Cemetery. WILLIAM JOEL SHALTER, 59, died yesterday in St. Joseph's Hospital. He lived at 315 N. Tenth st.

Mr. Shalter was a retired railroader. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Augustus Shalter, and was a member of the Lutheran faith.

Surviving are his wife, Mary E. (Schreck) Shalter; one son, William of Reading; two daughters, Marie at home, nd Violet, wifi of Willis H. Brunner, of Reading; two grandchildren, and two brothers, Harry D. and Franklin, both of Reading. Funeral services Saturday at 2 p.

Surviving are her daughter, Clara, wife of Lemuel Greth, with whom she resided; seven grandchildren, one great greatgrandchild and two sisters, Mrs. Annie Hoch, of Reading, and Mrs. Susanna Breininger, of Kutztown. Funeral Friday at 1:30 p. m.

KIR BY. 49. of 475 W. Columbia SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, died Monday in the Potts ville Hospital. He was employed by the National Biscuit Company lor 25 years, having been sales manager of that company's Pottsville branch for the past 18 years.

He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs Elias Kirby. Mr. Kirby was a mem ber of the Methodist Churcn, or Schuylkill Haven, and St. John's Assembly, of Philadelphia.

He is survived by his wife, Esteiie (Gum) Kirby; two sons, Preston, of Pottsville, and Wesley at home; and one daughter, Mary, at home. Funeral services Friday at 2 p. m. fro mthe D. M.
