WORLD ents not OF for sale 1 A 1 k. I PORT rf 'e--v i I -rs'X'tl' 11 t. tt v- t' i SATURDAY, DECEMBER 9, 1972 PAGE 33 790 see Blazers snap Donnelly jinx Canadian Press) Aeros; Reggie Fleniming's By Dune Scott Herald Staff Writer "CERTALNLY NOT. THE CALGARY CENTENNIALS ARE NOT FOR That was the statement general manager Scotiy Munro said when awakened from his motel bed at Swift Current early this morning, suffering from the flu. don't know who started the rumor, but the Centennials are NOT for sale to anyone, now or ever.

The only ay the Centennials will leave Calgary is if I leave, and I haven't anv intention of doing that at the present time." The rumor that Centennials were for sale was started over a week ago by a Calgary sportscaster and former Chairman of the Western Canada Hockey League directors, Calgarian Ron Butlin, was reportedly interested in purchasing the Cents. "One sportscaster mentioned Centennials were up for sale, so naturally, I thought I would enquire. I certainly had discussions with Scotiy Munro and had intentions of purchasing the club, if the price was right. But what Scotty wanted and what I was prepared to buy it for was entirely two different things. There was just too much of a difference in prices mentioned and I haven't given it any further thought.

I am still open though if the price is reasonable. But I am not prepared to pay the price Scotty wants," said Butlin Friday night. Munro denied this in the conversation. 'Mr. Butlin was in the office and we talked general-ties.

But he never gave me an offer. Anything is for sale, but, and I repeat NOT the Centennials. It has been my life's work. It's a unique business and Mr. Butlin, along with a lot of other people would love to own a hockey club.

But honest to goodness, he never made me a firm offer," said Munro. When asked about the Victoria franchise that still more rumors have him interested in purchasing, Munro denied this as welL "Some day I'd like to live in Victoria, but as far as trying fo buy 'the Victoria franchise, THAT IS NOT SO, I haven't tried to purchase the Mctoria franchise and anyway there is a league rule that is strictly adhered to that an owner can't have two franchises. Besides. I still like Calgary too much to move elsewhere." added Munro. So" there it is, both sides of the Calgary Centennial hockey picture.
