iv a EDUCATIONAL rinitii A learning School i v. I This group of Red Cross has arrived safely in Iceland. B. Evan Parry Dies Suddenly Formerly a member of the staff of the Department of Pensions and National Health, B. Evan Parry died suddenly earlier in the week at his Toronto home.

A native of Wales and a veteran of the First Great War, Mr. Parry was a prominent architect and writer. During his Ottawa residence, he was a member of Knox Church, and later of Chalmers, being a past president of the' Men's Association of both congregations. During his term of office in Ottawa. Mr.

Parry was consulting architect for. the Department of Pensions 'and National Health, specializing in the design and construction of hospitals. He was in the Capital for many years and at one time wrote a book on hospital design. He was a member of the Fellowship of the Engineering Architectural Institute of Canada and was known widely in engineering circles. He left Ottawa about eight years ago.

Mr. Parry is survived by his widow. Dr. N. McL.

Harris, former departmental associate of Mr. Parry, attended the funeral in Toronto. Mrs. Felix Goster Dies in 40th Year The death of Mrs. Felix of 951 Wellington street, occurred at the Civic.

Hospital Friday following a short illness. She was in her 40th year. Born in Sherbrooke, N.S., she was the former Grace Wiswell, a daughter of the late Robert Wiswell and his wife, Sarah Mac-Clean. She was educated in Nova Scotia and married Felix Closter in Halifax in 1921. Shortly afterward she moved to Ottawa with her husband and resided here since.

Mrs. Closter was a member of St Mary's parish. She is survived by her husband, one son, Patrick, at home; two brothers, Howard and William, and two sisters, Mary and Annie -Wiswell, all living in Nova Scotia The funeral will be held from the Racine Funeral Home, 127 George street, on Monday at 7.30 a.m., for requiem, high mass at St Mary's Church at 8 o'clock. Interment will be in Notre Dame cemetery. WILFRID PRUPHOMMZ.

Final tribute was paid Friday morning to the memory of Wilfrid Prudhomme, former lock-keeper on the Rideau Canal, who died on Tuesday in his 55th year. The funeral took place from the Racine Funeral Home to the Basilica, where the body was met at the door by Canon O. Lalonde." Solemn requiem high mass was chanted by Rev. Canon George Prudhomme, a cousin of the deceased, assisted by Rev. A.

Eugene Lafontaine, 33, died Friday at a local hospital after a long illness. Mr. Lafontaine was born and educated in Ottawa where he had been a lifelong resident He was the son of the late George L. Lafontaine, and Philo-mene Pereus. His mother survives.

In 1907, Mr; Lafontaine married Olivine Morin. Until a few days ago, he was employed by the Campbell Iron and Steel Company. He attended the Basilica, and was a member of the League of the Sacred Heart Besides his wife and mother, three sons and seven daughters urvlve. They are: Wilfrid, Alphat and George, Mrs. R.

Desor-meaux, Mrs. L. Perrin, Mrs. O. Ducharme, Mrs.

J. Arlal, Lucille, Constance, and Jacqueline, all of Ottawa. One brother, George, and two sisters, I. Paquette and Mrs. A.

Lallberte, and eight grandchildren also survive. The funeral will be held from the parlors of Racine Limited, 127 Cfeorge street, on Monday at 8.43 a.m to the Bajllica for requiem his mass at 7 o'clock. Interment will be in Notre Dame cemetery. JURIST DIES. CALGARY, Jan.

30. Mr. Justice A. H. Clarke, 81, of the Alberta Supreme Court's Appellate Division, died here today a short time after being stricken in the courthouse.

Simon Joseph Thibodeau of the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer, Reserve, died by drowning January 22, the Royal Canadian Navy reported Friday in its 66th casualty list of the war. His death brought total navy dead and missing officially reported since the war began to 462. Thibodeau's official number was V2555. His mother, Mrs. Gertrude Thibodeau, lives, at (72 St John street west) Saint John, N.B.

A uyed wiui daring e6 iuha 4 I Start Mrs. Martha O'Reilly Dies in 97th Year The death of Mrs. Martha O'Reilly, a' pioneer of Ottawa from Bytown days, occurred Friday morning at her, residence 79 Stewart street, in her 97th year. Mrs. O'Reilly was a daughter of the late Charles Watterston and the former Mary Courtney, Irish settlers in Bytown, in 1843.

She often tised to recall the days of the Capital's first sawmill in 1853 and the time when ordinary ditches lined both sides of Nicholas street in the vicinity of which she spent most of her life. She remembered. a fellow pioneer, Nicholas Sparks who conferred with Colonel By on the laying out of Wellington and Rideau streets. Mrs. O'Reilly well remembered the visit of King Edward to the Capital in 1860.

Up to short time before her death, Mrs. O'Reilly enjoyed excellent hearing and had. a. remarkable "memory though her eyesight was impaired. She attended St Joseph's Church and always took an active interest In the work of the parish.

For 90 years she was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary of, St Patrick's Home, and held the ofice of president She had also been a member of the Catholic Women'a League. Her husband, John O'Reilly predeceased her several years ago. She is survived by one sister. Miss Elizabeth Watterston, of Ottawa; and two nieces, Mrs. D.

W. Leahy, of Northfield, and Mrs. A. T. Lavern, of Erae-side, Ont.

The funeral will be held at 8.43 a.m. Monday from the parlors of McEvoy Brothers, 235 Kent street to St Joseph's Church for requiem high mass at nine o'clock.
