SEVEN-YEAR-OLD BOY CONTRACTS PARALYSIS; DIES A seven-year-old boy la dead and three other children of the Spring-bank district are under medical care as the result of an outbreak of Infantile paralysis within the past few weeks, it was learned Saturday. One case has been reported In Calgary.

Serum treatments have generally been successful in these cases, Dr. Duncan Oow stated. The victim of the disease recently attended a children's picnic and shortly afterward a girl of 10 years contracted the disease. The two other children affected are boys of two and 10 years, brothers. They are reported to be convalescent at present.

Because of the prevalence of in fantlle paralysle in the Sprlngbank district, the apmcevale scnool was closed to younger children during the week of examinations. A child brought to the isolation hospital at that time was discharged shortly after as free from the disease. Though the disease sometimes becomes epidemic, local health authorities were of the opinion that this was unlikely In Calgary at the pre sent time as the one case ha-1 been Isolated. Infantile paralysis is highly infeotious, but Is extremely difficult to trace. If detected in time and serum treatments are given, there Is usually a fair chance that the child will escape serious streets, a supply of the serum held in readiness here.

"First of all, let me tell you that the grandstand attractions are excellent; the contract more than lived up to; there are no substitutes, and it makes a very wonderful show. The ballet is Improved at least 60 per cent over anything we have had heretofore. The quartette which sings grand opera and other numbers is beyond my description; the most pleasing people, and very desirous to assist at private functions such as Rotary, or any other luncheons that might need their help. "The costuming of the show It much beyond our expectations; the scenery is very similar to that of last year. "A word about the band.

CapL: James and his band are playing very wonderful concert music, but Carmthers has with him Prof. Cer-vone, who la the musical instructor for the ehow. You will remember that Mr. Carmthers recommended Cervone's band to play for the acts, and the way Prof. Cervone gets music out of the Princess Pat' band Is astonishing, "I believe I can safely say It Is' the best combination we have ever had, and of course you know that these attraction are Identically the same as will be used for the Canadian National Exhibition as part of.
