IllEUNDAVSlJN, LOWELL, Joseph J. Thornton retired chauffeur Joseph J. Thornton of 01 DElmont Ave, Lowell and formerly of Tewksbury expired Dec. 13 at Bon Secours Hospital, Metrwen. He was born in Somervllle the son of the late Joseph J.

and the laic Mary Ellen (Lacey) Thorjiton but has lived in Tewksbury for the past 21 years until several months ago when he moved to Lowell. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy and held membership in V.F.W. Post 3164 of Tewksbury and D.A.V in Rockknd. Until illness forced his retirement, he was employed as a chauffeur at Hanscomb Air Base, Bedford and at Bentlcy College in Waif nam.

Surviving him is his wife, Barbara (O'NeilJ Thorjiton; three daughters. Mrs. Jeffrey (Joanne) Sheerin of Tewksbury; Mrs. Richard (Janet) Shields, of Lawrence and Miss Kathleen Thornton of Lowell; one sister, Mary Thornton of East Boston; four brothers, John Thornton of Charlestown, Thomas Thornton, of Chelsea, Leo Thornton and William Thornton both of Tewksbury, alSD two granddaughters.
