Engagement Is Announced MORAN Mr. and Mrs. Charles Haberbosch of Moran announce the engagement of their daughter, lfallie, of Topeka, to John Debus of Topeka. Mr. Debus is the son of Mrs.

Anna M. Debus of Brooklyn, N.Y., and the late John C. Debus. Miss Haberbosch is employed by the C. R.

Scott Mortgage Company and Mr. Debus is employed at the Munns Medical Supply Co. An August wedding is planned. District Aides Visits Neosho Falls, O.E.S. Neosho Falls Ruby Melvin, worthy matron, and Harold Guat-ney, worthy patron, presided when Florence Draper, District Aide of District No.

22 made her official visit to Neosho Falls Chapter No. 448 O.E.S., on Monday night. She was introduced, taken for a Walk In Friendship Garden to the star points and seated in the East. Thelma Bedenbender, Peggy Sayles, Georgia Ann Guatney, and Margaret Guatney sang to her. She brought greetings from the worthy grand matron and told of her plans for the year.

The Chapter room was beautifully decorated with spring flowers. S. Breckenridge entertained members of the Dorcas Class of the First Baptist Church in her home yesterday afternoon. The vice president, Mrs. H. E.

Mueller, presided at the business session. Mrs. Mabel Harrison gave the devotions and read an article on The Spirit of Christianity. Mrs. William Braun conducted a Bible quiz.

The meeting closed with prayer by Mrs. George Ruxton. During the social hour refreshments were served to 12 members. The Robinsons Entertain For Dr. and Mrs.

Murphy Dr. Leo Robinson, president of the Iola School Board, and Mrs Robinson were hosts at a dinner party Wednesday evening at the Allen County Country Club, honoring and Mrs'. Franklin Murphy of Lawrence. Dr. Murphy, chancellor of the University of Kansas, gave the commencement address at the exercises held that evening for graduates of the Iola Junior College and the Iola High School.

Opal Minkler received word Saturday of the death of a sister, Mrs. Zella Ilisey of Chicago. Funeral services and burial were Sunday at Thayer, Mr. and Mrs. Minkler started to drive to the services, but Mr.

Minkler suffered a heart attack before reaching there, so had to miss the services entirely. Our sympathy is extended to Mrs. Minkler. Mrs. Barbara Lewis attended graduation exercises Friday of last week at Iola in honor of Miss Verna Springston, her great niece.

Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Brown spent part of last week in Kansas City at the Eldon Heuston home. Mrs. Barbara Lewis and Mrs.

Nina Thomas visited the Garnett cemetery Tuesday afternoon, and while at Garnett called on our old neighbor, Mrs. Laura West at the Showalter Rest Home. Mrs. West has suffered a stroke which paralized her throat So can only whisper a very little bit. Mrs.

Lewis and Mrs. Thomas also called on Mrs. Pansy Whitney in Garnett. Mr. and Mrs.

Russell Warren, Long Beach, were Tuesday overnight and Wednesday guests of Mrs. Zonia Norton and are visiting other relatives and friends in this vicinity. They will attend the annual alumni get-together here at Mildred School-house Saturday night, and will be in this locality until after Memorial services. Mr. and Mrs.

Grant Dickinson called at the Anderson County Hospital Tuesday to visit Mrs. Dickinson's sister, Mrs. Cleta Weddle, who has been a patient there for almost a week. Mr. and Mrs.

Lon Hutton drove to Kansas City on Saturday to visit the Jerry Seibert family. They returned Sunday evening. Mrs. Charles Cramer returned Saturday from a three week stay at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wauneta Robinson, in Colorado Springs and also visited other relatives at Loveland, Colo.

The Past Noble Grand group from Moran had a get-together party May 24 at the home of Mrs. Minnie Cunningham. Those enjoying the evening together were Mrs. Dennis Isaac, Mrs. Edna Weast.

Mrs. Charles Haberbosch, Mrs. Hattie Woods, Mrs. Lavon Elrod, Mrs. Dollie Reynolds, Mrs.

Lovica Norman, Mrs. Mamie Davidson, Mrs. Lennie Weast, and the hostess, Mrs. Minnie Cunning ham. Refreshments of glorified rice cookies, cake and tea were served.

School Notes Mildred School closed May 26 with a basket dinner at the noon hour. Oh, W'hat a dinner! Mrs. Pierce, the teacher, will teach at Prairie Dell next term, the first four grades. The pupils their mothers and of course the teacher and the cook had a picnic and wiener roast at the picnic ground north of the schoolhouse May 19. A party was held May 18 for those having birthday during the summer non-school' months.

Those having perfect spelling lessons the last week of school were Sandra Brown, Colleen, Dianne and Lorrita Grewing. Mrs. Bell Hartman, Fort Scott, spent -from Wednesday until Sunday with her daughter, Mrs. A. G. Fink and family.

She was here to attend Irene's graduation. After graduation exercises, guests of the Finks were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fink and Kathaleen, Union-town, and Mr. and Mrs.

Donald Fink, Mark and Earl Dean. The Open Circle Club met with Ruth Ford Wednesday afternoon. Little Connie Stanley was honored with a shower. Velva Thompson and Marjorie Hoblman had appropriate games for the occasion. The next meeting will be with Winona Gilliam.

Mrs. Medora Burk and Mary Robb visited Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Cook after club Wednesday. Mrs.

Cook was feeling better that day. Irene Fink started work at the Western Insurance Company at Fort Scott Monday. She and Betty Eisenbrandt of Elsmore have an apartment together. Mr. and Mrs.

B. H. Bacon attended high school graduation exercises at Cherokee Thursday evening. James, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Marvin Bacon, graduated. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Don Baker who were united in marriage Monday. Mr.

and Mrs Carrel Baker, Don's wife, and Mr. and Mrs. Iester Modlin took Don to Kansas City and he left by plane early Wednesday morning. enroute to Okinawa. Mr.

and Mrs. Leslie Ford, Iola, were Sunday afternoon visitors with Mr, and Mrs. Dale LaRue and family. Lavon, Carney, and David Baker spent Tuesday night with Mr. and Mrs.
