In fact there are very few towns in the State that possess as good railroad facilities.

The whole Register job force is busily at wort Just now getting out a catalogue of the articles that will be on exhibition at the Opera House next week. The catalogue will be a neat pamphlet of 21 pages, and shows over hju articles, every one of which is eilher a beauty or a curiosity. A number of onr foreign subscribers to whom we sent statements the first of the month, have not yet been heard from. We wish to remind them that after January 1st, their accounts will be placed in the hands of an officer for collection. The Register is not pub lished for the run or tne thing.

The ladies of School District' No. 3 ask us to say that they will give an entertainment at the Deer Creek school bouse on Tuesday evening, Dec. 29th. Oysters and supper will be served and a small admission fee will be charged. The object is to raise funds for the benefit of the district.

There is talk of organizing a musical society after the holidays, for the pur pose of giving weekly concerts. The Elan is to charge no admission, but ave the society run in the same manner that a literarv soeietv would be. with musical instead of literary pro gramme. The idea seems to us a good one, and we hope it will be carried out. From matters that have come to our attention lately, we infer that the opinion is prevalent In some parts of the county, that there was no appeal taken from the late decision of Judge Brewer touching the lands of the so-called wedge strip.

The opinion is erroneous. The case was appealed and is now on the docket of the Supreme Court of the United States. We must ask our readers to indulge us if they find less than the usual amount of local news in this issue. In the first place there in't much news, in the second place we haven't room for much, and in the third place, "taking the year together, my dear," The Register publishes more news than any other paper in the county, and iL-readers can afford to bear with us once in a while. Satisfaction guaranteed. We hear a good deal of complaint from farmers, about hunters tramping down their hedges and leaving gates open aud bars down, and there is some talk of prosecution. And the offend era are not ail "town fellows" either. but farmers who certainly know how much trouble their carelessness causes. Since it is trespass for one to hunt on the premises of another without permission, it would certainly seem a small enough return for that permission, to cause no unnecessary work or waste.

The railroads of the State, as a sort ot Christmas gift to the people we presume, have decided to reduce their fares durinar the holidavs to one and one-third for a round trip. The St. Louis and Wichita at any rate, and probably all the other roads, will place tickets on sale from ztm to January 1st, inclusive, which will be good to return up to and including Jan 4th. We understand that this idea was first suggested to the railroad managers, by Prof. Canfield.
