THERE IS 110 SUBSTITUTE FOR P8WBEB Absolutely Pure IT IS A MATTER OF HEALTH CARBONDALE fXXXDOOCOCOCOOOOOOOCXDOOOCOOC PRETTY GIRL'S STIRRING ROMANCE Tru. to Her School Days' Lover, Mary Bruno Refuses to Marry Renovo Suitor. Rivalling the romantic tales of long ago when knights were led to the chopping block because they refused to discredit themselves in the eyes of their lady loves, and uo someilniig that would lose to them 'forever the ladies fair, is Uie story laid bare by the arrest of pretty iiiuen year old Mary Bruno, an Italian lassie, from Clinton county. Fa. the won't break faith with her sweetheart, the young man in sunny Italy who "courted her in the days on tlieir native soil while she and he were still Children, and who has not yet come to this country to claim her as his own, but who is expected shortly.

Though good husband, his good quaJi. es having been detected by the girl sister, who resides at Renovo, has been provided for her, the promise made that if she will many him, a home will be theirs as well as a comfortable dowry, the girl has positively refused to sell her heart at the dictation of her sister. Three years ago the pretty girl, then thirteen years oia, was taken to this country to reside with her sister, Mrs. Domonick Bruno, of Renovo. There her life was to be on long sweet song, a life of unalloyed happiness, and where she was to be married, the choice of a husband for her already being made.

she and her lover in Italy were saying their fond adieus previous to her departure, the suitor in Renovo was being spruced up preparatory to meeting her at the dock and making a very Strong first impression. His dress may have been immaculate, but he was not the man for Mary. She was not Wing to forget her faithful 'John Merino across the sea. She caught onto the game as soon as she landed, and even refused to speak to the young suitor, who was enjoying an eye feast upon her pretty face and ways for the first time. Three years she has redded at Renovo, three years she has been sought after by the man nicked out for her, but she has never waver ea in ner love to the one across the Dig pond.

ceased to he a virtue with her sister. She wanted the marriage to be performed this week. Monday night, when all but she were fast asleep, the brave girl crept down the stairs to the store, which is managed by Bruno. Fearing that she nugnt awaken the sleeoera if she rlns the store door, the gin left it open and caught the mall train with but a minute to spare. jarDonaaie was the next scene of uie romance, and here the main char acters, Oomonick Bruno, the unwel come suitor, and the girl, with Reno vo's chief of police handle the seen.

ery. The latter in his hurry to take uie trip nere rorget to get a warrant. tne gin was round in the colony with her brother and refused to go back with the chief. Later a warrant was sworn out charging her with the men or nny aouars, and before Al aerman liiinool she was held under inree nunarea dollars bail. What au thority uie aiaerman and his under uinciais naa tor nomine a girl on the cnarge oi larceny committed in anoth er county without a warrant from that county is a puzzler, but it was done, anyhow.

But the brave girl, who was making the fight of her young life to show loyalty to her lover, whom she has not even heard from in a direct way ior inree years, was not yet de leated. She was able to furnish uie requires amount or bail and is at liberty. The chief of police, who had prom ised the reporters here that he will send his picture soon to each of them, was shown the city by a constable and several reporters. He remarked before leaving yesterday that there were more doing's here In one night than in Renovo in a whole year. Hp has been promised a place on the local force.

The girl who won out against the sister and husband, suitor, chief of police and several others, omitting the local limbs of the law, says that she will not return to Renovo, but will remain here and marry the man of her choice when he is able to reach this country. ROBERT ALEXANDER DEAD. Robert Alexander, who was found dead in bed at his home in South Canaan, Wayne county, last week, was one of the best known men In that county and likewise was wellknown here. Two of his family before him met with sudden deaths, one having been run over and killed by a wagon and another suffering from a broken neck by falling from a wagon. GET THESE QUICK.
